  • So I saved somebody today..

Yea so Today I was the Rescue Diver aboard the store's dive boat. it was damn windy. the swells were a good 2-4 so naturally the boats rolling around a bit.. ah no big deal, this bs happens all the time, and I have pretty good "sea legs".

So Finally get every1 in the water, time for me to chill out and take in whatever sun there is. of course im still checking every minute or so to look for anybody geting ready to board the boat. i get up for a second, relizing theres no sun and put on my rashguard (i was getting ready to jump in for a second to pull up our "training anchor" (5ib anchor attached to a small buoy that we throw out during training dives)

so all of the sudden a guy pops up, no1 around him and hes flailing.. I mean my god flailing. So im like Damn... this sucks, get my fins on, get mask on (captain is pointing him out while im doing this(standard procedure so you dont lose sight of him))

so i jump in and make my way over there. and man was I kicking, i felt like a freaking rocket.. (adrenaline rush x7) :P

finally get close im yelling at him to make himself buoyant and put his regulator in his mouth.. but of course still swimming full speed. so he calms down a bit and does.. but is still bobbing up and down. a few seconds later, i get to him, inflate his bc (buoyancy device), make sure hes alright. and start to tow him back..

    this is where it sucks..

so now im pulling a 160ibs guy, 50ibs of dive gear, myself (and im not waering any gear so it can be a pain to stay above the water sometimes) and fighting a very strong current... now we are about 1/8 mile from the boat... my god.. this current was bad.

so im like damn.. start kicking.. id say 2 mins later i finally get about 20 feet from the line and im like ow! wtf!!! jelly fish grrr!!!!!!! (i had gloves on) mother f'ker got me on my damn leg... so i grabbed the damn jelly thing and pulled it, (like 3 or 4 tentacles stuck onto my leg of course) pull that thing out of the water and throw it (damn thing is so light it only went like 5 feet, but it felt good XD) and swim the other 20ft..

so im half expecting a good tip from this guy (not that it matters i mean i dont expect to get repaid, thats my job a simple thank you will suffise, but in the dive business you tip the rescue diver at the end) instead, he gives me a presidente beer shirt which makes me lol inside.

so yea... now my right knee hurst a lot from kicking like a madman.

feels good, but like im not like blessed by angels now lol... all that movie crap where the guy turns around and goes oh thank you and kisses your feet.. bs...
after i finally got this dude on the boat, hes like "I want to go back, i only have one more skill to do before i am finished certified"

in my head: "hell no, wtf is wrong with you, you almost died b!tch"

what came out of my mouth: "Nah man as soon as your instructor gets in the boat w/ your son we are leaving, waves are picking up"

lol also funnily enough, my 10 yr old sister told me i should put a piece of packing tape on the back of the shirt and write "I saved a guys life and he gave me this shirt"
                        lol
