    Re: Is this worth fighting?

Plead not guilty and then when you show up at court, see if the offer you a deal. Then plead guilty to the lesser charge.

I got pulled over in VA where the speed limit went from 45 to 35 and the cop sit right behind the 35 sign. So by the time I was reading the sign, he already had me clocked. I was doing 55, so not like it mattered to me, but he gave me the ticket in a 35 instead of the 45 where he technically clocked me.

My success rate for fighting tickets is 100%. They all get knocked down or dropped.

      Re: Is this worth fighting?

dude...go back to where you were pulled over and see if there is a sign prior saying 35...if there isnt then argue that you saw the 35 and he was sitting right under it and you were in the process of slowing down...Say he clocked me doing 57 in a 55 thats not a crime, by the time I passed him at the sign I was prolly doing 40 in a 35 still slowing down...then say its not safe to jam on the breaks, my car needs time to slow down and its unfair for the officer to be sitting right under the sign clocking me in a different speed zone, but giving me the ticket for the one hes sitting in. If that were me, I'd make the cop look dumb (but only if there was a sign prior) dont get me wrong I got respect for cops, but when they pull those stunts it gets me rattled...Its worth the fight in imo though even if ur dead wrong

You WILL get points on your record. It IS a speeding ticket. FIGHT IT!!! You can call the court and set up an convenient court date. Then, talk to prosecutor on the day of court. He can probably drop all points for more money or if it's your 1st offense, he can be sympathetic toward you. If you just pay the fine, you ARE gonna get points. Those points will stay in your insurance system for 3 years which means you will get sh*tty premiums for your insurance for at least 3 years. NJ = sucks! Good luck w/everything.

cops can sit right behind/by/after a stop sign. you are suppose to be at the speed limit by the time you pass the sign. Its just wasnt your lucky day. You can try and fight it if its your first ticket. most places give you deferrals. call up the pd and ask them, or there clerks office. they will let you know if they offer deferrals. youll have to pay a little extra, take defensive driving, and it wont go on your license (in most cases), or just pay the ticket and be done with it. my ticket made my ins go up like 2 dollars.

I agree with the snow tire thing. Can they prove you didnt put snow tires on the car? of course not. be like you want to come to my house to see my snow tires? lol

yea definetly go with the speedometer thing, dress nicely, apologize etc...

idk about over there, but in FL you can hire a lawyer and they can usually take care of that stuff for you for 70 bux..

no :spank: no :slap: no :poke:

They have heard EVERY excuse in the book. You bust out something this lame, and they will give you no consideration at all. Trust me, I've been to court more times than most of you guys have had birthdays (hell, more times than I have had birthdays!). I have several cops that are friends. Lame excuses only hurt. Name dropping hurts. Dressing nice does very little.

Honestly and respect are what have worked for me dozens of times.

Wow, I'd be happy and pay the fine. I don't know in your state, but FL they would have tacked on a wreckless driving to that for 20+ MPH over. I think it could have been a lot worse.

Go back and check the signs... if there are signs before where you got the ticket, go pay the fine.

lying about the snow tires and the speedo thing wont help anything. itll only hurt your situation. what would you do if they asked to prove it, that your speedo doesnt work right. plus, any normal driver can tell 57 mph from 35. just go to court, tell them youre not from around here and didnt notice it had changed, ask for some kind of deferral, be nice, and it should all work out. take advice from people thats actually been in your situation, lying only makes it worse.

no its not legal to go any over the speed limit. i dont know how it is up there, but anyting over can get you a ticket. trust me i took 2 years of law enforcement classes. its up to the cops discretion. usually police dont pull over people for 1-5, but THEY CAN AND CAN GIVE TICKETS.

Yea, I know they can give you a ticket for 1-5 but I mean like its not gunna be as bad as a 57 in a 35 zone ticket...What Im saying is if you want to give me a ticket saying Im going what ever in a 35 zone then clock me while Im in that zone, not another one...If Im going 57 in a 55 then I should get 3 over which is less money and no points...
