anyone a certified mechanic?

Is anyone on here an actual certified auto mechanic? If so, I have a question for you. and here it is.
Im going into auto mechanics and I had to take a welding class this semester. I didnt understand how the class worked and screwed it up and ended up dropping it to keep from failing it. I dont like welding at all and dont want to take the class again, and I was wondering, how much actual welding do you do usually, being an auto mechanic?

Unless you work with exhaust...NEVER NEVER NEVER. at least in most shops

sorry, but how can you not like welding? its ****ing easy. if youre failing that, you might want to check and see if you have a vigina in your pants.

Um...... if you were an auto mechanic in a midas or meinekee..... you might do a decent bit of welding.

well, i'm not a certified mechanic but my dad is.. if you are just planning on getting into a repair shop, you shouldnt have to weld... anything exhaust, youll be welding constantly. and if you ever get into a field where its more than direct bolt on parts, then you'll probably have to know how to weld..

what kind of welding are you trying to do? MIG is simple once you figure out how to set up your machine. Stick can be a bit harder, but with just a little practice you'll be fine.. Stick with it. Knowing how to weld si a great skill to have..

I wish I knew how to weld.. all I know how to do now is braze **** with a torch.

like the others said it depends on the area of work , I am a mechanic for a landscape company and i use my welding skills all the time .

Im not failing it because I dont know how to weld. Im failing it because I never turned in any of my welds because I didnt know I had to. then I found out I had to months into the semester and its too late to fix it now. Ill prolly take the class again semester after next. also, what kind of welding is usually done in auto stuff?

Welding doesn't really look that hard, IMO. Never have done it though.
