I'm pretty sure you have never drifted in your firebird before. Maybe a fishtail from taking a corner fast but thats about it. In order to drift you need to have a bit more hp and tq so you can keep the wheels spinning throught a turn not just have them slide sideways. Well I guess you could have done this in snow before. Which is fun btw.
was a long sweeping turn on a road course, I was driving, maybe going ~60-75ish, started to "drift" off the track, I taped the brakes, the rear really started to kick out, I had the wheel counter steering stabbed the throttle, and was turning right, while the car was going left, for a good 10-15 seconds.
Then started drivng normal to achieve good times :)
Good driving, and bad driving all at the same time!
A corolla like Kristen's, a 240, or a miata are probably your best bet for cheap. Although the toyota and nissan are both going to be stupid expensive for what they are. If that makes sense.
I doubt a Miata would be that good at drifting. Although light, there is little HP to spin the rear wheels.
A good drifter needs to be light, have a lot of HP, tight turning radius, weight distro biased to the front, and most importantly REAR wheel drive.

very true. and dirt racers have been "drifting" since they dawn of cars.
Drifiting is gay because it's automotive figure skating and every 16 year old that has ever broken the rear wheels loose by an inch thinks they are drifters. It's not the cars or the pros that piss me off. It's all the fanboys that the sport created. I have been a member of a nissan forum for a while and when drifting got big it was like a flood of retards showing up with 240s.
^^ i agree wholeheartedly. Honestly, the same thing can be said for tuner cars. Tuners are freakin sweet. I dont care what anyone thinks, getting 600 *reliable* hp out of a 2.0L engine is impressive. But Johnny-just-got-his-liscence throws a body kit, a wing and a retarded exhaust on the civic dad bought? and then putzing around the street like a badass... just flat out wetauded-ed-ed.
Drifting is fun, its practical on a track, but other than the aforementioned annoying teenagers the thing I DONT like about drifting is that in competitions, drifters are judged on "style". screw that. cars are supposed to "go". who cares if you can look pretty? you're still losing the fuggin race! quit slap ****in' around!
I know people will say showcars are judged on "style" and we dont make fun of them but they're about as much a "car" as that set of bone china in your cabinet is a set of dishes. The only road those cars ever see is the road the trailer is on.
If its supposed to go, then, dammit, GO! It makes about as much sense as burnout contests... fun in their own right, but stupid to try to compete....

I'll agree that it isn't ideal, but the car is cheap and parts are cheap and easy to find compared to other options. I would say the biggest thing hurting it is probably it's short wheel base. HP can be solved with a supercharger.
While HP can make drifting easier and is obviously the reason the GTO and Viper were kicking *** in competitions it isn't the first thing a person should be worrying about. Suspension and good tires has a ton to do with drifting.
Besides, there are other ways to start a drift than overpowering the rear. You can start a slide with momentum, e-brake, or clutch kicking.
I have drifted in my firebird before i guess you could say not a true drift on dry ground but i have when the roads are a bit wet. I would never put a gay spoiler n **** like that on my car either. Although i think some body SOME look good on certain cars i very highly doubt id ever buy one. Also i asked about drifting because its FUN whether you think its gay or not i still have a blast throwing the car sideways around a turn. Also i need a less expensive car and i know 240's dont runt 2 bad.
- Why tiptoe through life to arrive safely at death -
i use my car in drifting... why whats wrong with it... N-O-T-H-I-N-G its actually 87% effective on a hairpin than grip racing style... but you know what i hate people bringing down people with their love of the sport... if he gets to an accident... SO!?! 1000% he learn from it... that he's no PRO... and he'll also know his capabilities... I also hate people who do it on the public road.. like couple days ago an 01ish tiburon was pullin his e-brake on the streets... BAD IDEA.... if i go practice... i bring like 3-5 orange cones with me and do it on a Parking lot like late at night... *I live in the Prairies so no body cares...*
And on Mods its still cheaper... have your car on a heavy diet... then go Strong on your suspension area....
my list of drift cars would be....
1. ae86 (because it almost has a perfect distribution of weight thru out the body... and lightweight)
2. 350z (expensive but a very nice car for D)
3. s14
4. rx7 FC3s and the FD
5. 06 Mustang
6. 06 GTO
7. Miata (even though underpowered with the right mods she'll go a long way...)
its really hard for th f-body to go sideways *MY OPINION* i was also considering in importing a car from Japan to canada... because with the money i get if i sell my car is enough already to buy a nice import... but still i have to sell more crack...
Oh sktooner. im in regina. I dont do it, but From what i hear Walmart and wascana are the places to get caught. I heard one guy was doin it in a parking lot and a offduty cop . was drivin by. he dont drive for a while

Seriously though, do people from Saskatewan not know how to use english properly?
Anyway, drifting (or powersliding if you're not a homosexual) has been around for ages, its just the current reincarnation invented by the tire companies that has all the retards joining in..

Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
