    Re: best drift car?

I would not drift A ZR1, i hope no one does. I cant seem to find much video of a ZR1. Found a blue one in chicago a 91 $18,900 with 40k. If it was white i would have bought it.

You can drift with a F-Body's it just takes a little more technique. Check out these links.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLQpqW3RpdA

                  Re: best drift car?

Sorry if I'm bringing back a thread that's kinda dead, just thought I'd throw my .02 in. I see drifters catch a lot of **** around here. Just for the record, I've been doing it since '02 when I went overseas in high school. Back then no one knew what it was. It was until a year or two later that I actually noticed it being mentioned in magazines. Actually, drifting is more about balance than horsepower or anything like that. It's better to have 50/50 weight distribution than 400 hp. The reason the Viper and GTO and the others with high hp do well is because the tracks for the pro drift comps here in the US use such high speed track layouts. Grassroots drifting is more about tight technical tracks more along the lines of a road course or autocross. You don't need a 240 to drift. I use my 98 Camaro and it works pretty well. The 3.8 gives some good weight distribution and has decent torque. Since the power to weight ratio isn't as high as others, I have to keep the momentum up. This means going faster into a corner than other guys/girls would. Braking, downshifting, or just plain oversteer works the best in this situation. If you don't want to go the import route, you can check out the Domestic Drifters section of driftingforums.com. A lot of the guys there are running f-bodies or the Fox body Mustangs. And in response to all those that don't agree with the "style" category in drift competitions, I don't really agree with it either, which is probably why I don't care about the pro competitions. I see what sort of stuff they're running, but other than that I don't take it seriously. Just thought I'd throw some info out there for those that want it. And for those that think it's gay, that's fine to have an opinion, but don't down people for their's. I'm a fan of anything having to do with cars. Unless it's just straight up ricing something out or being a poser.

Right now 350z's are consistently the best performers.

If you watch formula-d on espn2, Tanner Faust's 350 never breaks down, and outperforms the others. Some of the larger cars are impressive though. Still not seeing any F-bodys in the top 32.
