Just thought I would stop by and see what everyone's been up to. I fell off the face of the earth for the last little while. I joined a professional gaming team in the CAL league and have been on the road going to competitions, but now the season is over and I'm back at home with my winnings and ready to pick up where I left off on the Firebird.
Hope everyone has been doing good, and all the old faces are still around, if not you are a loser :) . Well, look forward to talking with everyone again and putting my 2 cents in on your problems.
Yeah I havent seen you in quite a while, good to see you back..
Pro gaming league? WTF?
Yeah, it's good to be back home. And yea, pro gaming league. Whoever thought my computer gaming would make me lots of money :D Now I get to be lazy and play video games all day for a reason, not just an excuse. It's pretty sweet though, due to sponsors. Our team is sponsored by Xfire, Corsair, Intel (even though I want to change that one to AMD) and ATI. So, I get enough equipment to build top of the line computers for free anytime new items come out or I need a new rig.
Anyone living around Las Vegas? I will be there at the middle of January for the season finale tournament. We're hoping to walk away from that in 3rd place or better, because that will be one sexy a$$ check if we do.
Oh definately. Especially the time I came in there late one night and everyone was acting like I slept with their wife or their mom, but luckily I read right through it like a book. Ya'll almost had me going for a second :P
Well, I got recruited to a clan in a game I play called Day of Defeat. Once I joined up with them I was told they had a CAL (CyberAthlete Amateur League) team and that's the reason I was invited to the clan beause they needed an extra man. So, I was still trying to decide if I wanted to until they told me they were sponsored. Because, I so wasn't about to come out of pocket to pay for my airfare and room n board just to go play. But yeah, they are trying to work their way up the CAL brackets so they can get invited to the CPL because that's where the real money is at. CPL has tournaments where first place walks away with $250,000 and sometimes more.
i always wondered how the hell you get into that lol.
It's pretty much as simple as finding abunch of people and starting a group then going and finding sponsors unless you got bank to support the funds yourself and starting off in the CAL-O league which is CAL-Open , so it's open to anyone. And then you work your way up from there.
Takes a lot of free time, hard work and practice. But, if you find a group of people that are truly good enough, and you get into the CPL or the CAL-I which is Invite, that's what we are in at the moment, it can pretty much become your job. Because, if you are good enough, it will make you more money usually then a regular day job. This season I pulled in a nice 5 figure sum and with the finals coming up in January, if we finish in the top 3 I can easily double what I made this season with this one tournament.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
