I was told
Terrible 2's
Horrible 3's
Rotten 4's
right up through the Insolent Adolescence and Defiant Teens
I always cringe when I hear stuff like this. IMHO, they are self fulfilling prophecies. Parent properly and such things do not exist. If you let your two yr old think they are in control, you WILL have terrible two's. When your two yr old knows who is in control, things go smoothly.

Ask Kristen how well behaved my son is.
The pissed off 30's...
I was just jovially rattling off some old clichés.
I chuckle at your "smoothly", but I agree with you 100%. Proper parenting is the key to everything. My children are very well behaved. Our two year old will sit at the table in a restaurant and eat his meal without a peep.
But can you honestly tell me that your son hasn't tried to push your buttons or see just how far he could get away with something? Mind you, every kid is different. That why there's no owners manual... not enough trees. Our daughter is well behaved was well, but she has her own little unique ways.
EDIT: I just ran this by the boy and he said look into his eyes and you will be under his control.
Beat the **** outta them, and you won't have to worry about that.
Lemme guess, you're going to be one of those parents that REASONS with their children.
You would guess incorrectly. I was merely repeating what folks have said to me.
When he breaks the rules, he is told what he did wrong and why his actions are unacceptable, and that is usually accompanied with a swift pop to his a$$. I'm a firm believer in spanking, and it will be a cold day in hell when some court system says I can't. However I wouldn't go to your extreme of "beating the **** outta them," which I hope you are exaggerating.

Who doesn't though? That's part of their personality. Sure when they are tired they get cranky, but so does the wife. Any time I hear someone complain about their kids, watch their parenting style. It is (usually) lax with no clear rules. My son knows the rules and consequences. he has learned that pissing me off is a BAD idea. I am not against spanking, but I have yet to need it.

And I know the parents you are talking about. Their usually the one's that are screaming threats to no avail at their kids across Walmart. Consistency with rules and consequences FTW. Guess what? Our kids probably wont grow up to be losers and/or ****heads.
Oh... x2 on the wife thing.

You got you a good boy there then. Please don't get me wrong. We're not having to discipline our son constantly. Both are kids are great most of the time.
Since you've seen lil Vamp, here's our daughter (she's not 18 Bibs...)

No, I am not talking about throwing them thru drywall, but I was raised with a belt to my ***. My friends were the same. There was no reasoning involved, they said don't do it, and if I did, I got the belt.
The LAST thing I am going to do is start reasoning with my children. Im not going to explain why or why not they can or can't do something. Its rediculous, and they don't figure out why they can't. They become too dependent like that.

I wasn't trying to imply your son was a discipline problem at all. My son HATEs loud noises, so raising my voice (and I can be very loud) is very effective. Thus, I have never had to spank him. It has taken me years to get him to ride in the FB. Actually, the first few rides he wore earmuffs. then we started singing along to his Elmo CD. Now he's cool with it. In his defense, the exhaust is loud back there.
LOL... This is my peeve with talking on the internet. Without a voice, it's hard to convey emotion.
I didn't believe you were implying anything. We've just talking kids.
Since you posted pics of your kids, I was digging through and old thread from this summer to get the links of pics of my son. Looking at the thread, you were the first to respond to the pics. So I guess you've already seen them. :)
But since I went through the trouble of digging them out, I'll post them so navyblue2000 knows what he can look forward to.
I love this pic b/c it's the wheels I want for my FB.
In this pic, you can't tell, but he's playing with a matchbox car wash.
LOL... Yup I remember those. As I was looking at this thread, Ben walked up and saw my sig. He pointed and said, "Dada's car." Then, I scrolled down to the blue 'vette. He pointed again and said, "Ben's car."
navyblue2000 will also get to look forward to this...

he has great taste in cars! My son told me tonight (keep in mind, he's only 3), that when he gets bigger he wants a red firebird with a shaker hood.
