not sure why I understand the "you don't want to do a 3.8L because its common"
1st fieros are not common
2nd fast fieros are even less common.
I live in orlando a populated city, I haven't seen a Fiero, since the one I raced in, and before that hadn't seen one in a I'd say 1-2 years.
I was refering more to the 3.4 and 3.1 swaps iv'e only seen one other 3.8 swap and that was a GTP motor used. If I go with that I want to use a Buick Grand National engine because its the baddest V6 on the planet and plus I think it sounds great when it does a burnout:stp: But again finding that engine is like looking for a lamborghini V12.
Now I wouldn't mind using the 3800Supercharged engine at all if I can find one dirt cheap next to nothing.
The Last option is use a 2JZ Supra engine, yeah I know it sounds like a serious scienice experment but its possible to be done on a fiero. The only thing that scares me is those engines cost to much.

I had net seen a Fiero in years either. Then, the other day I saw one being uncovered on the side of a house right near me and being pushed out to the front driveway area. It is very rough and looks like it has not run in ages. Maybe the For Sale sign will go on it soon.
You can get an LS-1 kit from V8 Archies.. as long as you drive stick you are good.. I don't understand the bias against V8's.. I have one.. and I used to have a 6er, and never had a bias against them. The only people I know that have such a blatant bias against V8's are ricers for the most part, the others just want to be unique...
2000 Firebird. Whisper Lid, True duals, TSP mail order tune, Built Tranny , TCI 2800 stall verter, B&M tranny cooler, Eaton LSD, 3.42 gears. Current best ET. 15.232 89.09 MPH 2.175 60ft on stock 3.42\'s and open diff.<a href=\"http://www.geocities.c

Iam not biast against V8's at all trust me id love to have one but after experianing what a Grand National can do with its little 3.8 V6 I became a believer that is what I have to have in my fiero its perfect. V8s tend to add a ton of weigh, with a V6 I would have a well balanced car with great power to weight ratio so my car would be fair at the strip as well as the track. V8's are more ideal for straight performance which is not a bad thing its just not what iam looking for.
Not many Fieros out there sport the Grand National engine. fewer are turboed.
as much as we love the 2jz, GN motor, and Ls1... they just are not cost effective...
looking at minimum ~$1500-2500 without a tranny. Might look into Northstars, but you have a thing against v8s.
I have seen engine/tranny l67 for $750 before.
2JZ with a BPU setup in a Fiero could probably run with a Ferrari F430 easly its just finding the transmission/Transaxle that would work with that set up. The Sky is the limit with that engine only god knows how far you can take a Fiero if it had a Supra engine for power. Same goes for a Grand National engine.
Northstars are probably the best V8 swaps you can do to a Fiero. Its working with them thats a Pain in the ***.:stp:

An LS-1 weighs only about 200lb more than a 3800..Aluminum is a wonderful thing

It's actually between 100 and 200 lbs more than a L36.. the L67 is closer in weight..to the LS-1 and the power potential difference is staggering.. and the balance can be restored by using a mid engine mount tranny the with a chassis stretch you have a 200mph go kart

LS1 is 497-505lbs
3800 GTP 387-395bs
I would still go for the GTP. That's just me. I like SC anyway.

I agree the LS1 would be perfect but it would tip the scale and she would become fat
If I decide that a swap is the thing to do I want my car to be well balanced in both the 1/4mile and autocross and a 3800GTP is probably the best way to go since a Grand national swap is well out of reach.
Even if I had an LSX in there id still lose to a 3800 because they simply weigh less than the LS powered fieros, pretty much he 3800 kills all the V8 fieros the only thing that could be better is a GN or 2JZ swap and even then id still question if that would even lose.
That's crap.. I've seen LT-1 Fiero's run 9's so I know and LS would run better and corner better... it's only a 100lb diff than the 3.8.. If you do anything then run a Turbo 4 out of a Solstice GXP or the Saturn Sky Redline they are capable of massive hp and you don't give up any weight..and you can get new one's from GMPP
