Congrats! House looks awesome. We'll be making this same plunge in September 08. Getting tired of apartments and with two quickly growing kids, we need a house.

Wow, houses are expensive up there. For $269K, we were looking at this house sitting on 5 acres.

We also looked at this one for $232K

^^ that first one is in need of a remodel (at least the kitchen) but looks like a great deal! Houses aren't horrible around here, but something like that would certainly be over 300K.

Looks like a great house, Kristen! Even though it's a hard time to buy, it's a great time to buy houses if the seller really wants to sell. There is hardly any activity in real estate so the people that want out are selling their houses for dirt. Looks like you got a great deal, congratulations!

Thats it, I am NOT staying in Long Island when it is my turn to get my own place. Homes like those would run $600k+ here.

I live in WI, homes like that around here like /\/\/\ would be priced right around there.

My neighbor has one in his garage. Installed it himself. AFAIK, you need to tap into the hot water and some power. Other than that, it mounts to the wall. Next time I see him, I'll ask.

this is true. someone from another board here in ohio is house shopping... told me he wants to stay around 100k. i was shocked, didnt think he could find a chicken hut for that much. i did a search, and pulled up some pretty nice houses!

nope lol it's a 30 year. but we'll pay it off before that.

inter. is 6.5 percent. put taxes are 4800 a year, then insur. is added in there too.

Did you guys have any issues getting loans? Only had to do $3700 down? I am worried about with all the foreclosures and not the government stepping in on the ARM that maybe banks would be making it harder to borrow money and start asking for bigger down payments.
