first off let me say that this is not one of those threads that are like "I have this car and my friend has this other car, which one of us will win in a race." with that said, I was reading online today all these v6 fbody owners talking about how their car is so much faster than the mustang gt, without many mods at all. and it was pretty unanimous that the v6 was faster than the gt. now I always just thought the v6 fbody is faster than the v6 mustang and the z28 is faster than the gt, but not interchangable. does the v6 fbody really run with the gt?

and let me repeat. this is NOT a street racing thread, I dont even know anyone with a gt. I just thought this was interesting and I wanted to know if it was true or just a bunch of people that will say their car is better than anything in the world.

95-98 gt stangs are slow. 99+ its a different story.

Like Bib said, pre-99 GTs are fairly slow and a bolt-on V6 Camaro could take them.

Yeah the autos suck, the 5 speeds are about lt1 speed though

its amazing the difference between the two, ford had no clue what they were doing when they made that transmission

Yeah, I was gonna say this also. I drove an auto 01GT this spring and was not impressed. Then in the summer I drove manual 01GT and it was alot better, now I own it.

I had a 98 gt 5speed. Alot of bolt on's, tuner and some trans work. More money than I expected to pay to get it to move. car went 13.8's

I got the car cheap but if I could have done it all again I would have not modded the car and saved the money. Wasnt worth the $ per HP

Now my 05 4.0 is a different story. full weight, With only a tune, CAI and dual mufflers i went 14.6's

I am much faster now and makes for a decent play toy.
