Point A) Import car companies combined employ more american workers than ford, chrysler and GM combined.
Point B) Imports also use more american made parts than american companies.
Point C) I wouldn't buy anything that's not GM if I was to pay more than 50K unless it was a porsche or BMW, end of story

Never liked porche. I think they look weird as hell. Only Porsche I would ever consider would be Porsche Cayenne (SUV). My next car would probably be a 05+ corvette or the new 370Z. I really like the 350Z i have. It handles very nice, good gas mileage (not as good as LS1 though), and I love the look of it. Look is a huge factor for me in buying car.
I don't care for the exterior design and the kind of attention you would get driving that car, but it moves and I certainly wouldn't pass up the opportunity to drive one.
Looks like there are styling cues from several other cars on it. The Charger, the Vette and even the Mustang. Nissan took all of the top runners and put them together in one design! The twin turbos have a LOT of potential and we'll be seeing upwards of twice the power on those things from the tuners.
Yea yea everyone seems to be bad mouthing it. Reading the entire atricle, it seems to be impressive to me. I have mixed feelings about it, but I would still love to drive one, and possibly buy one. It has tons of potential. its not even the spec V model and with upgrades cams and turbo's it would be very impressive to have. I'll have mine in silver.

how bout a porsche?...those things are sooo sexy...and faster then vettes...
Porsches are a waste of money and they aren't faster than vettes I don't care what anybody says, those are ugly, slow and expensive id rather have a Viper SRT-10 than a Porsche.
The only thing thats good about them is their handling there qualitly but thats about it.
The Carrera GT and 917 and Dauer Lemans 962 are the only porsches that command respect where ever they go other than that 911=VW Beetle on roids.
FYI Skyline has those taillights way before the Impala.it's an impressive set p and practical at the same time, i'd wat to see the 2010 changes myself.

InsideLine cut a 11.6 quarter mile and a 3.4 (I think) 0-60 with one. Then again you really don't know how the car was setup before giving it to insideline. I'm interested to see what they can do once they hit the streets. I think the Z06 and it will be a drivers race depending on what you are doing. The GTR will rip off the line quicker, but the vette should pull on it up top. Who knows which will be better in the twisties.

Also, it's a DSG not an automatic technically.
Sorry... not a traditional manual tranny loses fun by far.
And as for the numbers pulled. Was it a production model or the model they gave out to test?
as for 11.6s... dind't a z06 just hit 10s on nothing but drag radials? Zr1 is lighter/more hp then a z06.
I admit the GTR is a nice car, I really want to see it, but I am not believing the numbers. Its a pig...
almost 4k lbs, and 500 hp. Just on paper how is that going to be faster then ~3,000(maybe less) and ~650 hp.
thats not a small number... and if you get technical, there is more Drivetrain lost in AWD, so its getting even less power to the wheels. It looks more and more like the GT500.

GM most likely employs more Koreans and Mexicans than they do Americans... Not that I have anything against Koreans or Mexicans, just that GM is more of an import than the other "imports"...
Plus... unions no longer serve a purpose (at least not like they did when they first started) other than to raise the cost of the products the companies make... and drive companies out of the country to find unskilled work... I would buy a Nissan just because it isn't made by union workers... Maybe that's just because I'm from the South (not nearly as many unions down here as there are up north) and will never be unskilled...
The GTR has been around for a while... and have always been expensive... but I agree... I would rather take an R35 or a Viper over this any day...
I agree... with the above post to... but beyond employment, the domestics are american companies, at the end of the day, the money is coming to the US, and helping the US GNP.
not the same with the other companies.
I am not worried about US citizens having jobs at the moment, unemployment is pretty damn low.

I'm with you there. I prefer a clutch, but you can't argue that a DSG isn't faster. The vette is supposedly getting one in 2010.

Supposedly production, but who really knows. From tires to a tune there are a ton of things that could be different on that car even if it was a production car. It was a JDM car and we have no idea what a USDM car will do.

Nope. The guy hit 10s on stock tires :omg:. I'm sure a ZR-1 will destroy the GT-R, but I think with an average driver the Z06 will be good competition. The advantage going to the GT-R because anyone can drop the clutch and let AWD sort out all your problems on the launch.

SuperAutobacs dynoed one and it put down somewhere in the upper 400s. Of course dyno numbers mean pretty much nothing. The realy question is does the stock boost move it's fat *** and how much boost can the stock turbos take while staying efficient. I would think very few GT-Rs that will be raced while running stock boost. Of course if the turbos are all ready close to maxing out then it will be a different story. I don't know why, but nissan made the manifold/turbos into one cast piece. Atleast, that's what it looked like from cutaways and pictures.
