    Re: Double?

^^ Your talking about 'side stepping'.....plays hell with all your drivetrain components......

and I will usually double clutch if I skip more than one gear.....sometimes even if I only skip one gear....but sequential I agree is useless to double clutch.

Ok. In drifting that's called clutch kicking. It can initiate a drift or change the angle once in a drift. Like Nikon, said it's going to lay a beat down on your drivetrain.

          Re: Double?

I am noob with 6 spd tranny. But if I recall, I do the rev matching when downshifting. I think only when I go for drastic downshifting, that's when I do double clutching.

Maybe a newer one, I was driving an Israeli Air Force fuel truck, and it was old and had a big bulldog on the hood. I grinded (is that a word?) many a gear in that truck.

i noticed you were granny shifting, not double clutching like you should.

                Hysterical.

No, you do not have to double clutch modern day cars.

I used to drive a 1968 Mack DM-800 dump truck. It had two stick shifts and 20 gears. If you were a rookie you double clutched, if you were a pro you rev matched the shifts, no clutch after you got it rolling.

                  Re: Double?

on down shifting I sort of do. I also rev match. I didn't really need to in my 2k camaro, but I had tons of transmission problems in my 3.4L tht the synchros were bad on several gears. SO I started double clutching and rev matching, now I do it almost every car I drive. I don't need to 100%, but you can tell the shifter goes in more effortlessly so I do it toe extend the synchros life.

may say its not worth it, but I raced my 3.8L alot and I never really had any sychro issues. On my first tranny they were getting little worn, but then I snapped the outputshaft, so it didn't matter.
