aw... crap

ok so i think i have mono... heres my long post... it started about 2 days ago and i looked and i had huge tonsils... almost touching my little drippy thing in my throat, swollen lymph nodes (pain in neck under chin kinda), i also feel a little tired and have been having headaches recently... so... i went to web MD today, and using my symptoms:
sore throat
tiredness
headache
swollen throat
difficulty/pain swallowing
i found some results... i thought i had strep throat for a second... but as i read on, i found that in teenagers and young adults, it is common to have mono, so i looked into that... i don't have abdominal pain (swollen spleen) and i don't have a fever (only 98.8) but i assume those could come in a while, being it just started...so... im pretty sure i have it, and i don't like how there not much you can do for it other than rest...i also haven't had alot of sleep lately, not as much as im used to...i read that 90% of people get it with symptoms... so who here has had it? any advice? think i got it? well... i know it isn't really life threating... but im kinda worried a bit, sorry for the long post :)

why don't you go to the doctors and get diagnosed to know for sure?
My sister had it a few years back because she hardly got any sleep. Don't remember the symptoms or anything tho.

yea... i haven't been sleeping as much as i normally do what with holidays and what not, and i would go... but I don't like the doctor, and i hate needles (blood test)... i know, im a little b**** when it comes to that :( but i am fairly confident i got it

it sucks. i spent a whole weekend sleeping only wakin up every 4 or 5 hours to puke then go back to sleep. and it started friday night monday morning i made myself get out of bed go to sick call (was in the army at the time) and see the doc. he did a blood test and i had mono. dont know where the hell i got it from. no meds to get rid of itnothing but rest. then it goes away and if i remember correctly it stays in your system for a long time but without the symptoms... it been over a year since i found out but on the occasion i get really sleepy and sore throat but goes away pretty quick.

best thing i found for me was to take some meds for the symptoms to get a little rest. good luck it does suck

oh btw go to the doc it only a little needle and only way to truly know

hmm... after researching more... i suppose it could just be strep throat again... or tonsillitis... so... i think im gonna just have to go see a doctor :tdown: :(

i had tonsillitis once, and it took on the symptoms of mono. identical in every way, only distinguishable by the blood test.

I had mono in high school, sounds dead on, doctor can get you on meds to calm swelling tonsils. i would go in asap.

If this is the case no contact sports for six months - year, SWEET!.....not

yea I dont like needles either...I got a high pain tolerance so its nothing to do with that...but for some reason when I get needles either one of two things happens...1) either I get really violent, or 2) I just pass out lol

you should prolly go see a doctor anyways...

dude, dont' be scared of the docs or needles. but you deff have to get yourself checked out, if not for you then for other peoples safty.
