Looking at becoming a Pizza delivery dude. Pay is almost 2x what I'm making now, and I need the cash, so.......Anyways, I've lived in this city all my life, but I don't know all the roads and such, so I figured I'll need a GPS system. Any recommendations? Mainly going to be used with-in my city, just to get me to the street at least so I can find the house. Might use it every once in a while, when we go on vacation, to find things to do, but not often. Preferably something super cheap, but still fairly accurate and user-friendly. I'd like voice prompts, but it's not necessary. It'll be mounted at the very corner of my vision, so I'll still see when it's time to turn. What do you guys have/recommend? Like I said, looking for something cheap to help me deliver pizzas, that's it.

I'm pretty happy with the alpine I have...despite bad review...I assume the new one would be better...but its super expensive like 600$...you can get a decent one for 150-200$ just go into like circuit city and play with a few...it has to be user friendly to you and easy for you to use...I heard garmin makes some good ones

I don't know how it is there, but I wouldn't mind becoming a pizza delivery guy on the OTHER side of town...like in Pooler. That's where a lot of the "well to do" live. I don't know anything about GPS systems. I just wanted to say, good luck, and be careful with the job. People are crazy.

Like I said, I've grown up in this town. For the most part, everyone's nice. I talked to a guy that works for Dominoes, and he says he brings home almost $35-50 a night in tips. That'll be about 2 days of work for me right now :D

yup im with the gr8schlotzky, garmin nuvi. The 200 series is a great deal. Turn by turn navigation, easy to input address, and less then 200 shipped. (just do a little searching on the net). i wanna say you can go up to the garmin nuvi 250 for about another 50-70 bucks, and this will add road names to the audio it says. ex. garmin 200- says "turn right in 50 ft", garmin 250 says "trun right on Main St. in 50 ft". I know 2 people with the 200 and they absoultley love it.

Garmin Nuvi 200. Best for the price if you ask me.

I work as a mapper for the Census in GIS, and TomTom is the best bang-4-buck GPS, easy.

buhahah $35 to $50 ... the store is a slow store.. I used to manage the Atlantic city dominos pizza.. umm yeah, 8-10 drivers and 6 insider crews on a typical friday night that I had to manage...a 4p to 2a driver would make atleast 150-200 on tips (including the dominos $1 per delivery)... I remember one of my driver went to Borgata to deliver a order and they guy tipped him $150 for his $30 pizza order. This kind of sh*T happens alot 20-50-100 dollar tips ... as for the navi unit, i have no sugestions to give you. But I will tell you this, on 5'oclock rush hour, there is no way in he*l you'll have time to put customer info in your navi unit. My drivers used to RUN from store to their cars. if you sit there try to put address in you navi unit, you're gonna lose out on money. Your store should have a big map. Just write down the directions or if you have a laptop, buy the Microsoft steets and trips software with the GPS sensor.

i just bought a garmin nuvi 200 and I couldn't be happier. Great little unit for the price. It takes me roughly 45-60 seconds to put in the address and then I'm off. I can't see that taking longer than looking at a map and writing down directions. Good luck with the new job!

Garmin FTMFW! I delivered pies for the Hut 15 years ago in a small town. I use to average $14-16 per hour... not bad for 1993 I guess.
