the **** happens and has happened and will happen... but I live/work in a middle class to upper middleclass neighborhood and with my work I see 1.5 million people a year of the local population.


Its not just poor related(but heavily weighed towards). Its just an attitude that the poplulation has. I am not sure how to change it since its part poor/part rich amercican culture. To be "rich" and have more then the others, to classify yourself as "better" then others.

it does what I want, gets me to work/wherever comfortable, is cheap, ok on gas, and can pass a car in traffic. But its no "macho" guess what neither was my v6 camaro... it was slower then z28s, which are not as nice *** Camaro Ss's which are not as nice as C5s, which are not as nice as C5 z51s, which are not as nice as C5 z06s, which are not as nice as C6s, which are not as nice as C6 z51s, which are not as nice as C6 Z06s, which are not as nice as C6 Zr1s....


which at the end of the day, are just an domestic POS, that share the same steering wheel as a G6 and are not as nice as the Bugatti Veyron.

your right wes, my parents made sure to bring me up in the "safe" part of philly. which has in the more resent year begain to decline. I moved out of philly, but i know that there is cr@p like this happening all over. Its the fact that is its going on to that extent is what is shocking.

Its not the point that it is going on around us, its that it has been going on around us for thousands of years. The media has overhyped it so much that people have no choice now but to respond to it.

As for BECOMING desensitized, I was long ago. I don't feel squeemish over the sight of blood, I don't turn away from large cuts and bones sticking out from flesh, and I don't get into a panic when I see a person get shot (and I have). These things have happend for thousands of years, and no matter how evolved we think we might have become, its still going to happen.

Im kinda confused, because Im not real sure what having or not having a kid has to do with your point of view. You may look at things differently after you have a kid, but you're talking about a 180 degree turn from being desensitized to having pity and caring about these people. Im not sure how a kid can do that, unless having a kid is OVERSENSITZING you.

Maybe... I was following a path in my life that I believed was what I wanted. After having children, my personal priorities and views dramatically changed. I look back at my 13 years of adult life before my kids, I see a man who was lost and would do anything to convince himself that he was were he wanted to be. I was into some pretty seedy ****. I don't regret anything. The path I chose ultimately brought me to where I am now. So, 180 sounds pretty damned close I would estimate.

We are all unique. I'm just speaking from my person experience. Other's results may vary. I make no claim or warranty.

But I digress. My personal level of sensitivity has gotten askew during this discussion. Don't get me wrong, this is a terrible thing to happen to this poor girl and my feelings go out to all involved, but I'm not weeping openly like Chris Crocker on YouTube.

people suck, and it only gets worse when people are in situations where they really have nothing to lose (impoverished conditions)... unfortunately its how the world works, and it is unlikely that anyone will ever change it significantly
