so How many of you guys where helmets when you race? where did you get em from, and about how much do these things actually cost?

depending on the track you don't need one untill you run 13.99 or 13.49 or faster. I thing 13.49 is nhra and 13.99 is just some tracks rulesComment

The time i've been to the track (didn't race) I go with my car club, and I could always borrow one from one of the other guys, but I don't need to....yet..Comment

I do, the lane boss said not to come back unless I had one after running multiple 8.5x runs lol. And as per NHRA rules, it must be Snell rated, either 2000 or 2005.
I have an RCI that is a Snell 2005. My wife gave it to me for Christmas this year :rock:
She got it from Summit, $145

I usually wear mine when I race, unless it's hot as hell. I take my ATV helmet and take the sun visor off and race with it. DOT Approved, haven't had them say anything yet.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

BTW, my track let me borrow a helmet with my driver's license. I give them my driver's license, they hold on to it and give me a helmet. After the race, I give the helmet back and get my license back. One huge drawback is that it's not hygienic. Summer time = 90 degrees = sweat from people's head =

The cheapest Snell rated helmet I could find was mine and it was $145. I've never seen one that was $70

You can get Snell ones I think in the $80 range... I have a motorcycle helmet bought it used for $25 LOL...
only really used it in autocross... and the couple times I took the vette down the track.Comment

I’m new. I actually don’t own a Camaro or firebird. I do have a 2000 Camaro 3.8 fly by throttle and 4l60e. This is installed in a 1980 Triumph TR7...3 weeks ago -
