Yes the air will blow hot but that blue color means the A/C will be turned on too. A/C turned on = waste of energy = more pressure on the engine = less acceleration .....

-With the A/C turned on, it wastes as much energy as drag created going 60mph with the windows down.

-These cars automatically disengage the clutch for the A/C compressor when the car is going WOT.

-I'm willing to bet there is a fuse that can be taken out during winter months to disable the A/C turning on when you want heat in your face and on your legs.


Back to the original topic, here are my complaints:

-Cheap seats, I plan on replacing mine soon with something a lot better. Will probably install heaters while I'm at it, I've gotten too used to that luxury in the g/f's Subaru.
-Cheap looking plastic in interior, I will be fixing this soon as well. Should take care of the rattles while I'm at it.
-Large turning radius, can't be fixed that I know of but a quick blip of the throttle will turn my car around quick.
-Long, heavy doors again can't be fixed unless you put the door on the diet, you're probably compromising the structural integrity of the doors in the process too, unless you're putting in Lexan windows.
-Poor shocks, sub par handling: Some Koni SA's and some new sway bars will fix this problem and give me much more versatility.
-Sub par stereo system - will be taken care of some day.
-Headlights don't produce much light. Mine are glazed over a little bit, wet sanding will make this a little better. Decent HID kits for these cars are on sale all over tech for $2-300.

I agree that the engine that far back under the cowl is a bit annoying, some angled ratcheting wrenches are a godsend though. I'd rather have the engine there though than move it forward and further bias the front/rear weight distribution.

So most of my complaints will be taken care of when I get around to upgrading the car again.

These cars were built for cheap speed, and that's exactly what they are. Ever notice how they hang with Euro/Jap cars 2,3,4 times the price? GM didn't include a high quality interior and top of the line suspension/brakes in order to make these cars more affordable for people who just want to go fast. You get what you pay for, most complaints in this thread shouldn't be a surprise to anyone at all. Although, I'd say the 3 4th gens I've owned have all been VERY reliable.

yeah but it'll turn the A/C.... I don't want a freakin' A/C to turn on at -10 degrees F.

Just because the A/C is on doesn't mean it will blow cold air. In fact, many cars will turn on the A/C automatically when the defroster is on to remove the moisture from the air to keep the defroster from fogging up the windshield. In fact, I turn on the A/C in my Jetta when I run the defroster for this reason. A/C != cold air.

We , in east coast, get a 6 months(or more) of cold season. Not able to do that in my 4th gen , used to make me mad. My only question to GM engineers would be , WHY? Why not legs and face at the same time?

Yea but when its cold we cant accelerate quickly anyways or the tires break loose...think of it almost as an added traction control lol

That's what I was thinking... what's the spare tire have to do with the taillight bulbs? Then again, maybe I can't talk... I don't even have a spare.

I would have to say one of the main issues with these cars is changing the plugs, now that I think about it. But that's not a big deal.. it's not like you're changing plugs every week.

2) Road Noise! I don't know how many times I've tried to reshut the door going down the road because I'm thinking it just has to be open.:rant:
3)Agree on the heater level bs, floor to vent to floor to vent...ftl
4)Guages, who put them so freaking low? Have to drop the steering wheel to see the bottom row, but then you can't spin the wheel with one hand...wtf?:spank:

IMO, the wet traction is not that bad you just have to have great tires.

a/c is overrated along with the rear defroster and power windows...i dont have any of those....what i hate about the early 4th gens is that they didnt come with the godly touched omg ls1....psssh thats the most overrated thing right there

I though rear defogger was standard? yea I dont have power locks or windows either...better that way, they can't break

-Lets see since owning the car. The dash is all plastic and tends to smell like plastic:banana:

-The car rides very rough over speed bumps.

-Makes alot of rattle noises even though there's nothing wrong with the vehicle itself.
