I'll never buy a new vehicle again if that happens, I hate everyone of those types of cars.

I'll be driving my 4th gen for the rest of my life if it ever comes to that.

I love how you guys are getting butthurt on this. Its still going to be fast as ****. So it will be 300-400 lbs lighter(which is better) and have ~150 less hp.

So it would be like a C4, but lighter... I know the C4 is "old news" with hp, but it was still a 13 second car which is fast.

but I do agree... the route of the problem is truck/SUVs. They need to make trucks follow gas guzzler taxes, but leave an exemption for people that use it for a business purpose.

I had like 10 people give me **** for not getting a truck, and getting a car. Wanna know why? I been driving a 02 Ram all weekend with the "fuel efficient" smaller 4.7L V8...

14 highway 12 city... I drove all the way to Ft. Lauderdale from Orlando, and I had above half a tank in my G6. Did the same run in the Dodge, from a full tank to almost empty.

              Ram has a 20 gallon + tank, and G6 is a 16.

thats crazy that people own and drive things like this everyday as their only form of transportation, and never really use it for its full use.

There is a huge world out there for performance battery cars.

LOL...have fun with that one man...you all on your own on that one...as far as the C4 cars being 13 seconds, we can be 13 second cars with not a ton of work done...the vettes are supposed to be setting the bar...damn camry's these days have like 260hp...do you want a camry to be competing with your vette? why own a vette then, I mean a ton of other cars will have as much performance and a nicer interior to boot...

                    I would rather see a V6 Corvette than a C4 wannabe.

haha yeah I heard that, I dont think I would trade my 2 for the world. I may take a step in though and build a hybrid engine to go in it if gas doesnt stick around

                        You guys are idiots....

I'd rather have a 13 second affordable Corvette, that is still plenty modable. Then a car subjected to a gas guzzler tax that jacks up the price so its not affordable.

but you guys forgot something... when the C4 vettes in the 270 hp range, they were running 13s and about the same weight if not heavier then the current vette. They also plan to drop a good 300-400... what does that mean? better handling better stopping and better acceleration.

I guess we could just make all the vettes the Zr1.. cost $100k, not sell for **** because no one can afford it, then they discontinue it because its losing them money.

As for performance battery cars... the Chevy volt will have a top speed of ~120, and does 0-60 in about 8(aren't v6 f-bodies in the 7.5 range?) Not saying this great, but the car isn't even out. Electric motors make gobbs of torque.

                        I would rather see a V6 Corvette than a C4 wannabe.
i am not going to even get started on how dumb that comment even is. They are not making a C4 wannabe... they want to make the car with less hp, and less weight, and have current performance just assloads better gas mileage.

I like the idea of what there thinking. But what about camaro's, mustangs, challengers and all them cars? They gonna knock off weight on them too? (doubtful) but if so, Great...

We dont need to lose these cars cuz w/out "cool" cars, Cars will be boring...

And as for the damn trucks and SUV's... I wanna see a minimum passenger limit for them damn things, Too many times I see 1 person driving a huge *** tahoe or suburban, Its a damn waste... There made for carrying the family around.

                          Its redicilous.

I agree they need to leave cars the **** along and go after trucks/SUVs

The average car has been getting heavier and heavier over the last 30-40 years. Granted alot of it is safety equipment.

every year cars get safer, and have more "standard" safety equipment.

Vettes here cost 100k + for base model and I see them EVERYWHERE...thats one of the reasons Im not a huge fan of them...none the less its still an icon I feel they are killing off, thats great they are weighing less, but weigh less and add more power to...soon were gunna be making the same arguments honda drivers make...well it only has 100hp but its only 1000lbs...
