did you race? ....like said before the autos have that torque management and crap...you have to tune the shift points and what not...maintenance on both cars could be a factor as well...

true.. i suppose... if i ever get enough mods ill probably have to look into a tune
with a quick tune, no one is going to be able to shift faster than an auto. From a roll, I'd take a manual, but our autos are great transmissions and I'd rather have it than a T5.
Most of the heavy duty drag cars have auto, but for streets manuals are fun to drive. But in heavy traffic it makes me wanna throw it out the window.
If it's an F-body V6 i would always recommend y87 auto, but any other car I would say manual. Our best racers here are auto.
When I was first shopping for Firebird I ran into a black T-top bird with auto. Next to it was a red hard top bird with M5. I told the salesman I wanted a black t-top manual. He called around and could not find one in my 70miles radius from my area. I was dissappoint, but he said the black t-top has a y87 which is better than any manual. Ofcourse I was in love with the black bird and went for it. I'm glad I did.

yep...get a stall and it will fix the roll problem, as well as any launch issues...
y87 auto+ stall+ tuned shift pts= better then any manual, and manual driver out there

no way the 4L60E is lighter than the T5...coming from personal experience - i threw my back out just trying to lift the 4L60E up a little bit, but i could cradle and carry the T5
