Yes, it is a "Muscle Car."

    Check:

"Hemmings Rods & Permance," Jan. 2003 pg. 22-27. Talks about GM's 3.8 in GN and F-bodies as Muscle Cars.

"Musclecar Milestones" (Collector's Edition) Jan. 2006 pg.4: From the Editor, "Go Ahead. Define a Musclecar?" It talks a little bit about GN, and V6 Fbodies in the mid '90's as muscle cars. V6 cars that were faster than most V8 cars in the '70s-and early '90s.

"..whether it has a six or an eight. Or if it's less that 300 hp or more than 400. I just know it when I drive it."-Paul Zazarine

                Re: 3.8L camaro muscle car?

we are not a sports car, nor a muscle car. we are the economy version of the LT1/LS1 F-body. thats what our cars were made for, plain and simple. we are not muscle...but have the potential to be fast cars with a lot of power. and when i think sports car I think corvette.

Dont get me wrong I couldnt be prouder of my 3.8L V6. but it was made to be a sizeable V6 that gets better gas mileage than the 5.7L.

                    ^he's closer

we own mediocre (speed-wise) sports cars, leave the "muscle" for the V8, muscle to me is all about raw straight line performance...

Muscel car term has been thrown on too much crap, just so people can sell it hoping for better price.

Take Phillis Dillor to dinner and tell every one you took Pamala, see how loud people laugh at you.

last I check vipers are muscle...and this is how Im looking at it...A gnx has the body of a muscle car...so do we....a Gnx has a 3.8L engine so do we? so whats the difference? and dont say hp cause we have more hp then the earlier v8's...its not about hp...so I think that as long as they consider a gnx as a muscle car, so are we...actually the proper terminology would be "pony car" since thats what mustangs, camaros, firebirds, etc. actually are...so fine we are "pony cars"

                              Muscel Car:
                              1. Affordable to average GI of young kid
                              2. built for 1/4 mile Performance
                              3. Base model cars with LARGE motors
                              4. Low optioned models with High HP to weight
                              5. Car designed to be driven everyday
                              6. High horsepower to weight

It is not the amount of performance the vehicle has, as in Corvette Viper, etc.. those are truly exotics because most people can not afford to own one or drive everyday. Muscel cars were built just for the young people, Vietnam was going on big back then so GI purchased a lot of these cars, just to go out and drink and race in. In the late 60 early 70s you could do that. Drunk driving was not big a deal. this is why so few are still around, back then I've seen them split in half, motors in the front seat, bumpers touching, They just don't make this type of car anymore. The fast cars now are not priced for the masses

ok we wont use the term muscle car, cause your right that is for big block engines...the more appropriate term even for the z28's is pony car...I consider us a pony car
