  • considering switching cars once again

Well this past weekend I find myself considering another change in direction with the Cobra...... Here is my thought process.....

Ok, so after this Spring the Cobra will be kenne bell'd, n20, everything and it will of course out run a 11.5 which we all know is the magic number for roll cage. At this point, I have no desire in welding a roll cage into the cobra, I mean, that just doesnt make sense to me, I dont think it would be good for resale eventually, etc. ANYWAYS. It goes back to driving this supercharged V8 around on a daily basis on premium, with gas prices headed the direction they are, it just doesnt seem practical.....

So I have always had a certain car in mind, but never was too sure about, well all of a sudden this weekend I really started thinking about it again. That car being the 2005-2006 Lotus Elise. Now it is a move in a totally different direction, but its a car thats nearly every bit as fast as the cobra, will get kick *** gas mileage, wouldnt be modded, cause **** dude it's a Lotus dont want to risk cracking it up at the track, and its one hell of a good looking/rare car in my opinion.

Let's hear some GOOD input, something other than Ford sucks, and dont buy a 4cyl would be appreciated, but I know some just cant hold back....

i actually think that would be sweet... i LOVE lotus elises... and its already fast, and it would save you from getting a roll cage... if it were me, and i was financially able to do it, i would... they are mint cars...

Go for it dude, I see your point about the roll cage affecting the resale value. Lotus's are just tough little cars to begin with, I think i've seen one in person before, not sure at this time but either way the car is sexy.

Do you have a DD, if not, do not get one as your only vehicle. It is the most impractical car ever made. A local rich kid had one. he had like a $100k supra, that was always in the shop and the Lotus. Kid was a poser but it was funny, he was trying to get with some girl, and took it to pick her up from the airport. The trunk couldn't fit the 1 carry on bag she had.

I mean I know its a sports car, but a Carry on bag that meets Carry on requirements is nothing. If you and a friend went and bought a toaster oven, there is a chance you would not be able to take it home unless you keep it on the passengers lap.

Think of a mini, but no backseat.

And if you are worried about gas prices, then you shoudl not even be looking at a lotus... **** if you can afford a $20-25k '03 cobra gas prices shouldn't affect you.

Also, I am pretty sure the lotus uses premium as well.

From what I remember from Car & Driver they lack many creature comforts. I think the car they tested didn't even have a radio. I would do a little research (find that C&D article). IIRC, they were saying it was a great race car, but not a practical DD.

                        find one.
                        test drive it.
if you like it, great, if it wouldn't work for you, then don't get it (even though i still would)

Re: considering switching cars once again

it would be used, like an 05, cant afford the 50k price tag new.

I will have to check on the gas type i just assumed regular.

I would FOR SURE have a dd, something cheap, but reliable, still considering tho it would be pretty sweet.
