Man, u are really anti Lotus.

Not to mention if you believe a properly driven lotus gets schooled on the track, man, you have another thing coming.

the car looks sweet, handles well, and is incredibly light...but the interior is so tiny, and the seats look anything but comfortable...if this was going to be a toy car and not a DD id say go for it.

A DD should be on of three things
        < $600 beater
        Fuel efficient
        Fun car

+ the seats might be more comfortable than they look. only way to find out how comftable the car is would be to rive it around, hopefully driving it around the city and highway

HAve you seen a built turbo miata? You want to see a car dominate in the twisties look at one of those. Or even some built C5s?

whatever get the car you want. I have seen a good 10 or so Lotus's. They are cool, but just rediculous to have as your only car. Enjoy it...

This is completely unrelated but i saw a built turbo MR2 schooled by a apparently stock Mustang GT.

I mentioned I would have a second car, at the very least would keep my camaro, if not sell that and get a honda accord or something. This would be my back and forth to work and misc car. I would have a passenger car as well for school and winter, something cheap 2-3K tops.

true, but both cars had multiple drivers, and the turbo miata schooled everyone with 4 seperate drivers.

a miata is lightweight, a turbo one can be 300 hp(as is the one I was talking about), and it right wheel drive(RWD)

But go ahead and get the car, I am sure it will be fun, I have no doubt in that.

You guys OBVIOUSLY, know nothing about amateur twisty racing...

face it you guys don't want a fast car, you just want a car that will turn heads. A Lotus is fast, but 90% of the driving you will do will not be anywhere near its potential. YOu will be giving up normal standard featurs on cars to attain this. Only to really seem like you have a nice car.

No because fearraris and lambos have tons more creature comforts my cars don't have, and can hold a suitcase.

If you are looking at a pure track car why not an Ariel Atom, they are faster, and street legal?

I don't understand why you are bashing the Elise as a handling car. A built Miata is obviously going to be a better car, but the Elise starts from a much better platform.

If someone doesn't care about creature comforts or getting beat to death while riding around in a car then who cares. I'm sure most people here couldn't live with an Elise as a daily driver, but I don't think that is really Dan's goal. He is going to have another car and can take that on long trips or in adverse weather. It's no different then owning a bike. As far as the money goes I'm with you on owning a house and making proper investments before getting toys, but we don't know Dan's financial situation and it's really none of our business what he wants to spend his money on.
