Its not racism...

It is the fact, that this country is joined on the principle that its a melting pot. People refusing to learn English(AND YES THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT REFUSE TO LEARN ENGLISH IN THIS COUNTRY), is not a melting pot... That is the same as mixing oil and water, they are seperate and do not mix. Thus making it counterproductive.

You're right, its not racism, its fascism. NO ONE is going to tell a group of people that they HAVE to learn a language, because it goes against all freedoms granted by the constitution. Im GLAD the dems voted against it, depending on how you look at it, its a vote against fascism. I have always believed in a more unified United States, but no one should be forced to believe or do one thing over another.

Should those who don't know English learn the language, yes, but should they be FORCED to learn it, no.

The English language is what this country is BASED on. If you don't want to learn it, don't come here. How the hell do you think we communicate here? Habla Espanol? Do you think if you went to Puerto Rico, Spain, Germany or France, they would say... Oh, it's ok, you don't have to know our language to communicate or live here. Same concept. You learn it toCOMMUNICATE Not because it's "cool" to go against the grain and speak another language. I cannot for the life of me believe the nerve of people to come here and dictate what they "want to do". And these pathetic political figures are only looking for more votes from these people.

Party politics aside... When was the largest economic growth durint recent times? Clinton administration, everyone agrees about that....


so what happens after every large economice surge? There is a recession. Clinton, was a good politician, not a good president, he should have raised interest rates and tried to slow the economy, but why do that, peopel will say YEAH, we are making money, Clinton is good, then whoever the next president was (even if it was Gore) would get **** on with the economy.

hmm... look at that sudden uncontroled spike upwards, and look who was president then.

Now look back at the Great Depression, and tell me if you see a similarity.

Actually, in my experience and others of traveling abroad, most foreigners are eager to speak in English to you once they find out you're an American; it gives them an opportunity to practice their english in a relaxed setting.

As an educator, I would have expected better from you. I would have thought you to take a more open view of your surroundings. Its already apparent that if you know only one language, and its not English, that they probably aren't going to go far anyway, no need to beat people up for it.

Neither my Macedonian great-grandmother and grandfather, nor my Polish great-grandfather had to take an English exam, and this was between 1900 and 1920. I think you're full of s***.
