Re: Hunting & Guns

im a big fan of remington 700 series rifles... depending on what you want to hunt, determins what caliber you wnat to use. If you are hunting deer, you cant go wrong with a 30-06. good all around cartridge, not an over abundance of kick, readily available ammo, and good for most game.

.308 is another great cartridge (its what all my dad and I's silhouette competition guns are in). .270 and .280 are excellent for deer too, but they aren't my personal favorites..

if you are getting a gun that you wll mostly target shoot, and occasionally hunt with, you can even go with something like a .243 cartridge... enough power to stop a deer with a good shot, and almost no kick.. you can shoot box after box of this ammo and never get a sore shoulder..

Sounds like the 30-06 is the way to go. As for how much i hunt, well we will have to see. I am a pretty darn good shot with both rifle and shotgun. Hunting so far has been a blast, i went rabbit hunting earlier this month and it was awesome, so ill probably enjoy doing it quite frequently, also i dont want to get that P.o.s. gun that i have to retire in a few years/months. i want a good quality gun that will last long enough for me to hand down to my kid. and tech him what i was taught.

A bit pricey for your first gun, dont you think?

            Nice though.

                Re: Hunting & Guns

for shotgun I would never give up my trusty 870 express, shoot 2 3/4 or 3inch mag. Unless you are hunting people I just don't see the need for anything else, if you are hunting people I don't want to know about it. Now if you are hunting deer or anything bigger just get a nice 30.06, great multipurpose rifle.
