  • Bad Service

Well, I just got my daily driver back from the alignment shop yesterday... after waiting three days. The tie-rod that should only take a day to come in took a little longer than expected (not the shop's fault). But two things really stuck out when I got the car back from them. First off, the interior reeked of cigarette smoke. It was so strong I could taste it. I had wondered why they kept the windows down whenever I passed by it on the way to work, but now I know. Those windows and leather seats had been smoke free for 5 years... all for nothing. Second, the shop somehow drained the car's battery down to nothing. They had to charge it before giving it back to me, only to have it dead by this morning. Apparently the maintenance guy had to take my mom's car in 5 times for adjustment of all 4 wheels, couldn't get it right. I'm wondering how many extra miles they put on it in the additional test drives. The worst part is that this shop is a client of my family's business. I hope they don't treat others' cars like this, because they're certainly going to hear enough from my dad when he gets back in town.

Now to wait for a warmer day to rub down the interior with vinegar. Get the smoke film off the windows and whatever else.

That is REAL bad.. tie rod end they should have been able to get alot of places, I could see one day if getting a real GM and none of the local dealerships had it. Smokeing in you're car! That is not right, I smoke and I would never do that in anyone elses car! Especially if I they were a client/customer.

I would literally take serious action if someone smoked in my car and drained the battery.

i'd be pist, but that's not unusual.

            1. make them buy you a new battery.
            2. make them pay for your car to be details, interior steam cleaned etc..

ps - your allergic to ciggarette smoke ;)

We had a lady come in to get new 6x9's installed in the rear deck of a 4 door, and the lady litterally lived out of her car, the trunk and back seat were completley filled with clothes, food, blankets, etc...

we made her empty the car or we would turn it away, it took her 1-1.5 hrs to empty it all.

                So gross.

                    Re: Bad Service

I have to agree strtracer they should buy you a new battery and pay for detailing. My work does that now and then when they one of the employees makes a mistake spills a drink in their car etc. I doubt they will laugh, if responsible company will take care of it, and his dad works with the so is a added touch. It's cheaper to just pay for that for him then deal with him takeing them to small claims which only costs $50. Or i he pushes the allergy to smoke.. a real lawyer suing them..

I admit my car is full of stuff alot of the times.. I do on-site computer service, but is not covered in ashes.. left over trash etc.

                    ..Kevin

                            Re: Bad Service

I had to have the car towed to the shop earlier today. Couldn't even jump it. We looked at the battery connectors, and they were corroded to ****... looked like dried toothpaste. But even after cleaning that off, it wouldn't start. But to add insult to injury, they took out the parts that hold down the battery brace and didn't put them back in. The bar was just sitting on top of the battery. That, and after looking through maintenance records, the battery's not even a year old. But that means I can get it replaced for free, whether the shop pays for it, or it's covered by warranty.

At least they'll pay for the towing fee, and lose any other business from my family. Still unprofessional, and completely disrespectful.
