I've been an off and on smoker for 19 years. Few years off, a year or so on, and the cycle continues to repeat. ****ing addictions suck. It's amazing how after being quit for years it comes back to me like I never stopped.
Quitting is easy. I get cranky as hell for the first day, and then I'm fine. It's staying quit when I'm out drinking with my friends that smoke.

that's when you need to stay out of those situations for a while until you know your strong enough to deal with it. I know I had a hard time with that, but during the summer, I would make my crew eat on the outside patios or if we were in a bar, I would just make sure we were near the door.. it brings in more fresh air.
After your a none smoker for a while and go into a smoky bar... then home... good god does it stink!! I usually drop my clothes in the washer that night.

I typically do for the first few months I quit. It's typically after a few years pass and you think to your drunken self, eh, f- it, I'll just have one.
BTW, congrats on quitting. Stick with it over the long haul.
8 packs a day??!?!?!? Holy crap! I'm suprized he didn't turn into a cigarette.
That's about 10 cigs an hour, or one every six minutes. It typically takes 7 minutes to smoke a butt. So basically, he never went a single minute in a day without a smoke?
I dont keep my empty tins lying around but i sure as hell would have quite the collection if i did!
Only smoke at parties and when i'm with a girl who smokes.... otherwise dipping satisfies my nicotine habit. Peroxide rinse and whitening toothpaste and i have whiter teeth than my non-smoking friends... whatsup now?

That was the problem I had. My roomy smoked 3 packs a day, so it was impossible for me to quit. Lord knows I tried to 100 times. Once I married and moved into our house, I quit immediately.
I know someone who got gangrene from smoking! Both of her legs had to be amputated from the knees down. My best friend who is a chain smoker coughs up green phlegm, complains of constant leg pains, and is constantly sick, usually with bronchitis. Cigarettes have many poisons in them including formaldehyde or embalming fluid. http://www.quit-smoking-stop.com/har...igarettes.html
