They should have used real tie down straps (similar to ones used with car trailors but smaller). Thats what I've always used...

Im at Initial Flight Screening right now in Pueblo, Colorado. Its a fairly tough program that is supposed to mirror the training environment of Undergraduate Pilot Training.

Bobby Younkin's act in the Lear was incredible. I had the pleasure of seeing it a few years ago at Sun 'N Fun. Amazing what he could make that airplane do.

            RIP :(

Yeah. Bobby was a great guy. Both he and Jimmy Franklin could pull off the most incredible stunts. Always loved seeing their acts. Lucky enough to see their Masters of Disaster act twice before Moose Jaw. Unfortunately Jim Leroy had a similar fate last July. Amazing pilots.

 What do they do in Internal Flight Screening? Weed out the people that aren't cut out for flying?

Yeah, pretty much. It measures your ability to learn the way the Air Force trains and flies. If you cant hack this course, then you wont make it thru UPT and vice versa, if you can make it thru here than you will survive UPT.

Good thing is that if you dont make it thru this course, then you are guaranteed another job in the Air Force. If you fail out of UPT, you might be booted from the Air Force all together because they are reducing in size.

Thats why its called a "screening" program. The IP's are not deliberately trying to fail you (they actually do everything they can to pass you), but they do want to make sure you are good enough to make it thru UPT.
