Re: Well... found a Vette... decision to make

Shirl, have you driven it? How does it feel?

I personally like Targa over covertible. Besides, with the vette I don't think the convertible is automatic.

Like Kala said, usually small mom & pop dealers tend to get their cars from different sources, mainly auction places which can mean recovered vehicle, repos, and so on. I would definately run a carfax on that.

I've learned my lesson not to buy from a place like that. In the past I bought my Civic and Mitsubihi Mirage from them. Both of them gave me serious problems.

        Trade for the Ferrari!

Seriously, if the Vette is not exactly what you want, wait. For that kind of money, get EXACTLY what you want.

Yeah I definatley think Targa top is better than a vert, much sportier IMO.

Its a mans convertable.... men who drive convertables, well.... just arent manly.

I would never give up the chance for a 'Vette, even if it meant selling a Camaro. Personally I would much rather have a targa than a vert, but thats your call.

There is nothing like a convert, and the re-sale value of a roadster vette will always be higher than any targa. I found my 04 vert vette for $31k and its still worth more than what I paid. Plus I got a 8 year warrenty. I say hold out for a convert. You will be happier in the end.

On a side not my vert hit the high 12's first time I took it to the track. No Mods! With only a few mods you can hit the 11's and thats alot to say when it comes to converts.

Think about which one you can imagine yourself in on a friday night.

Now keep in mind iam sure there will be millions of chances to grab a Corvette in the future. Heck there's millions of them out there so pasing this one up isn't going to hurt you I can garentee there will be many more possiblies.

What color is yours? The lemans blue is beautiful but I'm thinking it's basically a "man's color". lol.. Btw, 31K is not bad at all for an 04 vert. I want this car to be the right one and I'm glad everyone chimed in with suggestions. And no, this place did NOT have a carfax for me to look at. I thought that was odd. That's definately something I ALWAYS check.

What was your MPH when you ran the high 12's at the track? Do you remember?

                          :)
Kala, we are still going to Kerbeck in May when the Wildwood show is going on. So yeah, that's what I've been looking forward to. I check that site religiously. We're also thinking about going to Corvettes in Carlisle this summer. I was thinking... what if I buy this car and then see one that I like even more. ;) I haven't driven this one yet.

Went back again tonight and finally.... it was in the garage. I asked one of the workers pumping gas, (it's a Gulf station too) if it was washed so I could see it under the flourescent lighting. He said no, they didn't wash it. Oh well..

Do you guys like the "brownish" interior? It's called Shale. It's certainly different. The seats are like a light gray/beige color and the center console/dash etc are a light brown color.
BTW, here's a pic of my 02' convertible:
