Well... found a Vette... decision to make

Found an 04' Lemans Blue Commemorative Edition Corvette. Excellent condition. (A few light scuffs that can be buffed out.) 22,000 miles and they want 27,500 for it. It's has a removable targa top. The dealer said he got it from an auction off of a lease. I'm "thinking" about trading my pewter 02' convertible and paying off the rest. BUT... should I? My convertible is absolutely gorgeous and it's well... a convertible. I really look forward to warm summer days and nights with the top down. There's nothing like it. Think I should wait til' a Vette convertible comes around or go for the targa top? I mean it's a Vette afterall (I was actually shooting towards an 08' someday). But this one is in reach so it's tempting. If I want it, I need to act soon, since someone's already stolen the Z06 grills out of it and the red letters out of the rear. (It's sitting outside in a used car lot). I'll probably take the convertible over later, just to compare the looks and get a trade-in quote from him. (I'm sure he'll lowball the hell out of me though). I'll get some pics later..

I'm going against the grain here.

You want a convertible.
Don't make yourself settle for a targa top, if its not going to make you enjoy the vette more.
and someones already stole stuff off of the one your looking at

Plus you said you were looking to get an 08 one day.


Of course, all of this is excempt if you get an amazing offer for the camaro.

Edit: But the fact that its a Lemans Commemorative Edition is pretty damn cool.

I'm confused, what do you mean by Z06 grills?

I would go Corvette, but I prefer targa tops over verts and I just really want a C5.

I'd like a jet stream blue 08' convertible with two tone black/gray interior someday. :) Right now they are about 60 grand though.

Well, I just went back again to look at it... (sorry-forgot to snap a couple of pics with my phone).. anyway, it looks like someone tried to pry off the body side molding with a screwdriver or something... the paint is scraped off in the corners even though the rest of the molding is perfect. :shakes head:

It's friggin freezing and windy over here.. not car shopping weather, that's for sure. But here's the deal. This car is stock. Which is good and bad. Good: cuz no one's tampered with it. Bad: because I'm going to tamper with it. Low 13's is not going to cut it for me when there are Mustangs and ricers out there that can keep up or do better. I have more interest in the LS2's and especially the LS3's but like I said: this one's in reach right now. A stock LS1 Vette rated at 350hp/360tq. typically dynos at 300hp to the wheels. I want a lot more than that.

What kind of mods will get the LS1 to low 12's? Simple bolt-ons or what?

Whoever owned it before put the Z06 screens in the front vents. The guy selling it didn't even know or seem to care that much when we told him they were stolen.

I would stay away from used car dealer.... you have to be very careful buying cars from these dealers....they get cars from many different sources.... I personally like the 05+ .... as I have said couple weeks ago, Kerbeck usually have crazy sales ... u can probably get an 08 or 09 vette for 40-41k that's all ... brand new.... if you have driven this current one and like it , I say go for it ... but I would be really careful buying cars from used car dealership....
