Keep The Change - Bank Of America

So I figured why not. About a week ago I enrolled in BoA's Keep The Change. I'm sure everybody here knows it, but for anything you do in you checking account, be it a check or debit card purchase, the total is rounded up to the nearest dollar and that difference is transfered to your savings account.

Figured it wouldn't do much for me, but a cool thing is for the first 3 months they will match it 100%. Then after that they match 5% a year, up to $250... pretty cool.

Anyway, not trying to sell it, just thought it was cool. Looking at my account status just for the 19th of this month it was almost $3. :) Yay.

I have it but never use it. I purchase everything 100% on my credit card, then pay it off with my checking account all the time.

With this I don't pay interest but I collect reward points, then I turn the reward points in for something, I usually just do the cash rebate. The more points you accumulate the more money per point they give you so I dod it about once a year and get $300 or so dollars.

Keep in mind, any credit card that gives you something back, money, points, etc. costs more. There is NO free lunch. Banks make money. They wouldn't offer rewards unless it made them more money.

Unless there are no fees and you pay it off every month like Sheninibooteater, rewards cost you more. :poke:

to be honest, I do have one thing I like about bank of america... I do not know why but I have never paid interest on my car.


I have had a balance of at least $3,000 on it since 2005, its been as high as $7,000, right now its at $5,000

I have not paid 1 cent of interest I have gone over all my bills to verify this, but I have not contacted them for fear of a "glitch" being fixed.

So I guess BOA isn't all of a crook since I am ripping them off.

I'm financing everything through credit cards right now, until their 0% introductory periods run out (which the first one for me is November). The cash I would've spent on my expenses I put away earning the risk free rate. No annual fee, no costly add on services and between 2-5% on purchases is what I'm looking at. Not much, but idle cash doesn't earn interest.
