Silverado SS

I'm concidering buyin a silverado SS, anyone have opinions?

Anyone hear good / bad things about them.

Full Size
V8
AWD
Sexy :naughty:

It's between an SS and a Silverado 2500HD, and my brother in law and a close friend both have the 400SB and they get horrid gas mileage, and the duramax diesel is too expensive.

I think the SS would have better fuel mileage then the 400SB for sure.

My truck now is the 3.5L I-5 with posi rear, and 4.10 gears and it gets terrible gas mileage, 16mpg usually.

Towing or hauling crap, even worse.

& another bad part, It has a smaller fuel tank and I can only get 180 miles to the tank, or so.

So I cant even take a trip to michigan to the lake house without having to fill up a few times, it sucks.

I say SS... they seem cool... ive never had a silverado but my dad has a Colorado that i really like

Is his a 4cyl, or 5cyl?

what kind of fuel mileage does he get?

he has a 5 cylinder... im not sure what kind of milage he gets... ill ask him for ya... i know it pulls my dads boat fine, it feels sturdy, fun to hunt in and i like the Z71 package it has :)

yea the truck definatley has enough power, pulls a trailer with ease, and accelerates awesome.

I love the truck but want a full size, and a V8 AWD

Ive had my eye on this, it's an 04' and I really wanted a newer truck than that.. But id say 30K Miles is the limit, no more than that.

My current truck is an 06, so id be downgrading year and mileage wise (currently 20,000 miles) but that's okay.

id go with the 2500, the SS isnt that great, they only top out at 100mph and are a bit overpriced for a not that impressive truck that is supposed to be a SS version.

Go with the 2500 and get the 6.6 duramax with allison tranny. Throw on a bully dog programmer and cat back and you can easily get another 100-150 hp. I heard the reason for the 100 mph top speed is the drive shaft. If it spins much faster, it snaps the u joints.

the duramax's are way too expensive.

as much as id love a diesel, definatley not in my price range.

& I wouldnt be exceeding 100mph, thats what sports cars are for.. it's a truck, sporty.... but still a truck.

On the other hand, my brother in law is selling his 2500HD, it's an 04' with 22k miles.

has the 400SB, allison tranny, 4.11 gears, extended cab, Line-X bed + some, and he wants $20,000 for it.

But he gets 10mpg.

and my friend has the identical truck to him, same tranny and motor... pulling a trailer to michigan with 6 ATV's we were getting 7mpg :twak:
