not true, my buddy has cut quite a few 1.9s on street tires. ls1s make power everywhere, not just up top.

and no, i wasnt kidding, ls1 is god. lt1 is gods bastard.

Most of the vehicles at the various lots were 4 cylinders, or smaller 6 cylinders. And even the 6 cylinder's numbers were limited. I couldn't even test drive the new 3.6 liter Malibu, because they had only received the 2.4 liter at the time. Today's car market is geared toward smaller engines and better fuel efficiency. This is pulling most people away from the larger V8 cars and trucks. This is also why you see a lot of trucks and SUVs in people's yards with For Sale signs stuck in the windows.
Yeah its definatley well into effect, its just not quite to that stage of total non existance yet. realy theres not alot of reasons to have a v8 anymore, pretty much you either want it to say u have it, or because you actually need it, such as those of us who haul large trailers, its not unusuall for me to haul a 20ft steel trailer with 6000 lbs on it, thats not something im willing to try with any v6 i've ever had, in your area my 350 has a hard time doing it alot, actually ive gone thru 2 of them and im building a 454 to take its place for the spring. The days of v8's for guys looking for performance for anything other than work type things is quickly drawing to a end. Once this cafe thing goes into effect you can forget about modifying any new car , and its looking like it will be next to impossible to do it unless you have some sort of special plates on your car exempting your car from emisions(pa has classic and collectible-modified cars over 20 years old). Ive talked to quite a few other car nuts and alot of us think within 10 years of cafe going into effect you'll see the last of the true v8 cars gone, if anything does survive it will be these new types that have the ability to shut down 4 cylinder like the new camaro is suppose to get, ill wait to see how they do before i make any predications on what will come of it, but if the v8 is to survive thats what its going to take...might be kinda neat to go down the road and here the back 4 cylinders roar to life:)

People who actually care about others opinions. F*ck peoples opinions sometimes. On the lighter side my led sled crown pimp can destroy V6's.

Re: V6's.. why do we get the most ****

5 years ago, when I first got my car...I was looking for an LS1 but couldn't get insurance for the appropriate reasons.

5 years later, as much as I would like to have an LS1, I'm quite happy with my L36.

People laughed when I got butt raped by a WRX from a dig when I was stock...but now they are daaaaamn when I pull on Mustang GTs and run door to door with 350Zs. Yeah, I'll still get murdered by an LS1 or anything really with more than 300hp...but I know I built a strong performing car that earned respect.

It took a lot of time (4 years) and money ($$$$), but I know I don't have just another LS1 or even just another V6.

Now I have a paid off car and insurance that's cheap with enough power to bring a smile to my face when I mash the throttle.

What's next? I don't know...make it faster? Sure, why not...it's in our nature to mod. Do I care I have a V6? Not anymore...I actually like it.

Re: V6's.. why do we get the most ****

The problem I had with my V6 is that I built the motor and made almost 400 rwhp with it but my dumb A$$ kept the stock t5 and Rear end.. I every month the car was broke and I needed it to be reliable.. I am in the Navy and I cant just call out of work because of car trouble.. So I bought my WS6.. It has less power then my V6 did but is reliable and still under warrenty.. The best part is that after I bought my WS6 Some of my LS1 buddies were happy that I moved up into a "real car" or so they say, but most of them were happy that I wont be beating them down in a V6 Firebird anymore!!

As far as loyalty goes I am still here supporting the V6's and hardly ever go on LS1tech (for classifieds).. The community on this website is just so much better.. I am still a V6er at heart. Either way a Firebird or a Transam I am still driving my dream car.. Hell my 1st loss in my T/A was to my buddies STS 99 V6 Firebird!!

The V8 guys talk crap because they are intimidated by V6 f-bodies.. They dont want there LS1 to loose to a 3.8.. Thats the way it is around here.. I sure enough beat down my fare share of LS1's in My V6..

Why do v6 f-bodies catch the most $#!t?

                      ... because it's easy.

Re: V6's.. why do we get the most ****

Well I live in the middle of Colorado Springs where there's no dragstrip or racing events going on atleast on a weekly basis so theres no point on owning a V8 LS1 with all this B******.

I don't street race nor I race in my car period. If I wanted to I could have bought a V-8 Camaro insead of a 6 but I have owned V8's in the past and let me tell you they aren't much diffrent from the 6 models all they are is more heavy, eat more gas, higher in maintaince and aren't as relaiable as the V6 models.

I can give a f**k about the import crowd because they are all talk atleast most of them are around here and beside 90% of them ain't got $hit under the hood hardly any of them have a turbo most think with just exhaust and cold air they got a supercar. Bottom line is I don't care I like my car alot and gets the job done right sure its not very fast but speed isn't on my priority list right now.

If I wanted performance give me a lamborghini, ill take care of all those dumba$$ and there civics then.

My last stop light run was against a 350Z and if I remember correctly, it was last Dec...so 250ish maybe?

Needless to say, he beat me by a fender 0-80...so yeah.

I shop manager and inspect my car monthly...had a valve cover leak and decided to pull all my gaskets and replace them...my cylinder walls still had the hoaning...everything was clean. 250K yes, but still as clean as the day I bought her.

I can pull GTs all day...well, then again, they aren't that fast from the beginning. LOL!

Most of my miles are generally babied...3K oil changes really do make a difference.

V6s get crap because they are geared for economy...that's why GM makes a V6 version. Big brother, V8s, gets all the credit...generally V6 owners are noobs and are considered slow in today's market...but that doesn't mean you can't make them fast or faster. The whole paradigm is that V6s are for posers or the such. You can't change it no matter what you say...you can only change it by what you do...like building one hellva car.
