Re: V6's.. why do we get the most ****

lots of noobs/dumbasses in v6s and they think they have something they don't.

But the biggest thing I see... is the performance level. A v6 is a base model. If there was never a v8, and our cars came out, the respect level woudl be 10 times more. There will be respect out there for "top of the line" sporty cars like scions, and even Sentras and more... But you knwo what they are around the same level as our car. But there is a better version.

**** you even see it now, people dog the Lt1 all the time, why? its a good car makes good power, buuuut there is the LS1... Even the LS1 is starting to get dogged a little, by all tne new cars coming out.

People will respect a 98 Mustang GT more then my v6 camaro, even when I raced a modded one at the track, he got the jump, I reeeled him in, passed him and put lenghts on him and beat him by 8/10ths of a second.

**** you still even see it on these boards. Someone will talk about getting a C5, and someone will say soemthing dumb like "Why, you should get a Z06, or nothing" Because stock C5s are slow? they are low 13 second cars and and despite being a decade old still beat 99% of production vehicles on the road.

its the negativity about these cars that makes me want to mod them even more...can you say sleeper? these are a perfect example...plus I still cant honestly think of another 200hp v6 car back when these things came out for the same price...too me they were ahead of there time...

I shop manager and inspect my car monthly...had a valve cover leak and decided to pull all my gaskets and replace them...my cylinder walls still had the hoaning...everything was clean. 250K yes, but still as clean as the day I bought her.

I can pull GTs all day...well, then again, they aren't that fast from the beginning. LOL!

Most of my miles are generally babied...3K oil changes really do make a difference.
what mods do you have in your car?

Do it v6's make great sleeper cars, and nothing ticks people off more than when their great wonderful new mustang gt gets its butt whopped by a 10-15 year old v6:rock:

I dont street race but i do drag whenever i get the chance, and i have to say my favorite drag car ever as a very beat up 83 camaro that came stock with a iron duke 4 cylinder, and i made sure the car yelled that it came with a 4 cylinder( i had badges made, even they they didnt come with them) i put in a 388 in it with the quietest exhaust i could find and a extremely low idle, and never drove it to the line, always pulled or pushed it, just so i could hear the crap the other guys would talk, i would get guys tell me that i didnt have to run againist them or they would give me a head start, we would get in our cars and they would sit there in rev there engine acting all tough and the moment the light turned i was gone, i had alot of guys tell me they would just year a crack boom and have no idea what had happened. The point is its great to see the looks on their faces when u beat their a$$ after they mock u for having a crappy car, build up your v6 but make sure people know its a v6 it makes it even better.

Heh yeah I definitely plan on getting some 3800 badges. I don't think anyone here is trying to pretend they're something they're not. So far, I've not found 1 downfall to this engine. More space to work with in the engine bay.. less spark plugs to change. And especially the look that I'll get to see on my buddy and co-workers faces when I romp they're asses. That's really gonna make it worth it hahah! Especially this new dip**** on my shift.. Can't stand that guy. First thing he said about my car was.. sell it and get an 8. I told him he has no idea. **** em.

Re: V6's.. why do we get the most ****

Just something to ponder guys, especially those of you with the 3.8, 200hp is alot actually, consider this the 1979 camaro z28 with the largest engine u could get(the 350) only put out a tiny 170hp, 81 only put out 155, 200hp is more than any camaro produced stock from 1975 to 1987 when they introduced the fuel injected 350 into the camaro line up, and the only cars in 73 and 74 to hit over 200 were the 350 z28 and only 9% of camaro in 74 were z's,

now that considered, consider this the 81 350 z28 put out 155hp, the 93 3.4l put out 160hp, at considerably less weight. now these are factory given numbers, but it gives u a general idea, once you start looking, stock for stock v6's can realy stand their ground, alot of times what real kills a v6 is not its horsepower its the stock gearing in the tranny and rear end, change those and a few bolt ons and you can easily take on most stock v8's, with the exception of some of the brand new stuff that their throwing around 370-450hp stock numbers on, which i realy think its the start of the end, their trying to impress people with these large numbers trying to get them to buy the cars because of it. Ive been told by my dad when he was a kid they didnt even tell you the stock horsepower, no one cared, they wanted a big motor and a loud one at that.

You may not, but when the guy in the next lane is running a a brand new mustang.

This with bunch of 4 banger stickers, some old rusty rally wheels on the front and a old beat up set of drag wheels on the back and a 24 year old paint job after sitting outdoors its whole life and more age marks than hilary clintons face (yeah i was going for a theme here) does not look that challenging (not my car, same year and style thou)

They gave that mustang the respect because he hung with you!!

I have a feeling you are talking about Shirls post about getting a C5 for 28,000 dollars?? I posted she should get a 01 Z06 that I found instead because it was only 23,000.. and as far as the C5 being a 13 second car and all.. Yes that is slow for a corvette.. Hell the stock C6's have gone 11's!! There are stock Corvettes running 10's.. I remember when I beat down a 01 Z06 in my V6!! I was so happy beating down the fastest corvette ever.. Now a base model corvette is faster then a C5 Z06!! I thought trapping 110 in the 1/4 was pretty good for my bolt on WS6!! Now there are stock GM cars trapping 128mph!!

What I am trying to get at is you are getting the respect, just people are talking about you car behind you back.. they are scared to say in front of people that you have a fast V6 F-body.. I was in you shoes. I use to beat down all these 93-98 GT's with my Bolt on V6 and never really got any respect for it. I couldnt understand why people would buy a GT mustang just to loose to a V6 F-body!! I still dont. They would just say to me nice run wait till I get some mods!! They never said anything nice about my car untill I sold it.. Now every time I see them at work they always bring up how fast my V6 Firebird was and How I beat down there Mustang..

you goal should be a LS1 car.. All I know is beat down a LS1 car in your V6 and you will see the respect. Those Pre 99GT guys wouldnt even want to touch your car!!

                            you're comparing 3.8 f-bodies to cars built 20 years prior...not exactly a fair comparison

Just drove the C5 yesterday.... can you say "powerrrrrrsliiiiide". I floored it (auto) and the car just about went sideways through 2nd and 3rd. My modded 3.8 cannot do that unless I hit the juice... :omg: Simple mods will put the car deep into the 12's no problem (if it isn't already, which I suspect this one is).

The thing that ALWAYS bothered me about the V6's is that there is hardly any aftermarket support. It has gotten a little better, but it's difficult to modify these cars. This site has a lot of awesome tech and members to help with ideas and suggestions. For now, I'd suggest sticking with your dreams and modify what you have. It's a lot of fun beating bigger displacement cars and it makes it ALL worth it!! :D
