    it lives!

    turned out to not be the fuel pump. it was this stupid thing..

    the damn fuel pump/level harness plug was caked with salt and other crap. cleaned it off, and the car fired up.

    im relieved.

    so does this mean your not getting rid of the crappy Lt1?

              Good to hear! Seemed pretty early for your pump to go, your car is pretty low mileage. So you don't have to go to the almighty LS1 after all..
