  • 07 Mitsubishi Eclipse...

So my truck went into the dealer for some warranty work, it was only supposed to take 1 day.. but when I called to pick it up(4 days later, I was on vacation), they said it might be another week before it was finished....

So I sat patiently until friday, and called to see if the truck was finished yet, and they said no they were waiting on parts, and it may be another week. They offered to give me a loaner truck, so I was satisfied.

I went to pick it up, and when I got there they gave me a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse, V6 fully loaded model. It must be a program car, it has 10,000 miles or so but is def. new.

I was a bit pist off I didnt get a truck but just accepted the car and left.
Figured it would be a good opportunity to test the car, and get back into a "sports" car.

At first I didnt like it at all, the interior was strange, felt really tight like you were in the cockpit of a smaller lear jet. Overall power was okay, but nothing to write home about.

A few things I like about the car:
*The interior lights, blue... they look awesome at night.

*When you open & close the doors, they crack the window to release pressure & shut them right away.
    ----------
I started screwing around in it a bit, my buddy has a supra and was doing burnouts in their driveway, so I put it in autostick, and did some burnouts, will spin completely through 1st and second no problem. The car is a dog in auto, unless you have your foot to the floor the entire time.. but with auto stick it freakin' moves!

Now that I did a burnout and drove around in autostick for awhile, just running the RPM's up to 6k (redline is 6,500) getting the "sports" car urge out of my system since im a truck owner now.... I went out today to go to the store and it's shifting hard in D.

What a piece of crap, it cant take 1 day's worth of slight abuse without something going wrong? Seriously.

I abused my camaro for several years on a daily basis and with over 100k miles it was nearly bullet proof.

After having it for a few days though the interior has grown on me and it's a fairly enjoyable car to drive compared to a truck, but wouldnt really recommend it.

Im not dogging eclipse owners (shirl, maybe more) Im just stating my experience with the car, seeing if anyone else around here has driven them or own them.

meh..that car is waaaaaaaaay too girly for a guy to drive... if I see a guy driving it, I look for enterprise decal...if that's not visible, I assume that he is g@y.... All the eclipse owners I know are girls ..... so, umm yeah, hopefully people don't see u in public driving that thing..... if anything, I like the rear end with the white lights ...that's about it...

Alot of cars are doing the door thing, it reduces cabin noise. Its cool, but just one of those featres I think is kind of eh.... Wouldn't like

My mom's g6 convert does it, new mustang does it, think it started getting more popular with the vette...

Yeah in a way, I think they took the design from the 350, and F'd it up big time.

when your riding in the car and look out your side view mirror, all you see are these huge bubbly fenders that look out of place.

You're right, a lot of higher end cars have had it for a while. My dad's 98 XK8 had it. It's all fun and games until it stops working correctly. Of course I am talking about Jaguar electronics so what do you expect.

The 350Z design comes from the Audi TT. Take a look at the overall body shape...the Eclipse is a piece in general, BUT however I will admit that the 1st gen GSXs can move!

I also agree the G35 is better in the looks department.

I know some of the "pricier" cars had it for awhile, but seems since the C6 came out its picked up on crappier cars like the eclipse g6 and more..

im not actually sure if it cracks the window when you open it to release pressure... i think because of the seals... the Pontiac G6 GT's and G6 Gxp's have he same feature... not sure though....
