Exactly what I was going to say. You call GM corporate and you let them take care of it.

      Re: Question about GM dealership

Tell the dealer asking for the money that your in touch with the legal dept at GM and either your lawyer or gm's legal dept will handle the matter. I bet this disappears real fast. Missing airbag components on a new truck, I smell a law suit. My bro went to the legal dept at gm. His tranny was shot and the dealer he bought it from wouldn't fix it because it wasn't throwing any codes. Car was still under warrenty. The sob would make a loud bang from a start about 3 times a week. He called another dealer, they wouldn't take it because the job was opened at another dealer. Called gm, threatened to go to the BBB etc. He got a call for the legal dept who then set up an appointment at another dealer. Guess what, the clutches in the tranny were bad. Not sure what happened to the dealer he bought it from but gm wasn't to happy.

yea airbags are federally regulated, technically you bought a vehicle that did not conform to 2008 specs. at the time of purchase to the best of your knowledge the truck was equipped with functioning airbags, it isn't your fault that GM produced a truck that was missing components.

if you had worded your argument to the dealer that is charging you something like this they would have called their area service manager who would have said fix the truck or called the purchasing dealer and made them deal with it. but if you don't get the situation resolved they will put a mechanic lean against your truck and come Repo that bad bay.

Did you call a rep? Seriously, it is their job to keep the dealers in their region in check. They will take care of this.

Call GM, if they blow you off, tell the local papar/news that GM sold you a truck that was a deathtrap with no airbag components then when warranty came around, they tried to make you pay.

GM rep will get contacted for report and they will clearly blame it straight on the dealer(where blame needs to go)
