You ever in Massena come August til April? I go to college at Clarkson, in Potsdam.
This was the first time I've ever been to Massena, My g/f is working up there for the summer so I was just there for the weekend to visit, I think she's done in early August so I'll be back up to help her move. Hopefully by that time I'll be able to drive the Camaro... I was surprised at how nice it was up there... minus all the damn bugs...

Not saying that I've ever gone that fast, but I have it from an extremely reliable source that a 3.8 w/manual, intake/exhaust/tune will easily run to red-line (6k) in 4th, and can get up to around 4.5k in 5th if you have a couple of miles of open road. With 3.23 gears & 245/45/16 tires that works out to about 136 in 4th and 142-144 in 5th. My source also mentioned that while the car pulls pretty well in 4th all the way to red-line, it strains to pick up that extra 6-8 mph in 5th. He also mentioned that with a good suspension set up the car is very stable at those speeds...
...boy I wish I could go that fast :D
its really not that exciting.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
with nearly full bolt-ons and a tune the 'maro hit around 140 even on the dyno, and on open roads i've buried the needle so who's to say...
been 150 in the ls1 before, once you hit that you pretty much dont need to again unless you're in a supercar capable of 200+. the way i see it, most cars are perfectly capable of 100+ mph with no problem, so it's more about how quickly you can get there than the actual top speed.
Guess I'll toss this out there, but who f'ing cares? You're not supposed to be doing these speeds on the street, and if you are, please let me know so I can delete this thread.
Its nice to know these cars are somewhat fast, but as it is, stock is pegged at 118. Other than that, not sure why anyone would be going that fast, unless they were on a closed circuit track.

I f'ing care. If i take my stock 'bird to the track I wanna know what she's capable of before I get laughed at when I hit the speed governor I didn't know about.
This thread has been very informative and helpful in teaching young minds such as my own about the pinnacles and pitfalls of pushing ones automobile to such strenuous limits.
You're probably going to get laughed at in a stock 3.8l bird anyway, or you wont. Hitting the rev limiter is not going to make a bit of difference in that matter.
As for this thread being informative, I can't see how. These cars are pegged at 5600 rpm stock, which translates to roughly 118 mph. If you remove the limiter, then its possible to get more. Not sure what more info you need to teach young minds about the pinnacles and pitfalls of pushing ones automobile.

what track are you talking about? you wont be hitting any 118mph+ traps in a stock or even heavily modded v6 unless theres some serious n20 or boost going on at a drag strip anytime soon. if youre worried about getting laughed at the track i suggest taking up knitting then because youre always going to take **** from someone.

Question answered, thread locked. I would suggest to all that pushing the issue is not the way to conduct yourself, especially when you're pushing back on two mods.

Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
