This is true to an extent...It would be true in a vacuum, but if it gets to the point where wind resistance is too much for the car to continue accelerating with the current power, the added horses could have an effect on the attainable top speed.

        ah, yes. 2.73s come out to 239 A4. 3.42s come out to 191 A4.

These cars were not meant to go this fast. After driving my C6 (really fast), driving the Camaro 100+ feels like driving a double-decker bus. That can't be safe.

it wouldn't be true in a vacuum because there'd be no air for the car to combust. Horsepower is a measure of torque over distance.. it's not a "force" in the sense that you would use to combat something like wind resistance.

How fast can a stock V6 f-body can actually get in real life? I don't know. But, what I do know is that, in each case, it will never go above the aforementioned speeds.

I do, however, find it hard to believe that a completely stock F-body with the exception of !limiter, would be able to reach the same speed as a car with the same gearing and 3 times the power on any length of road.

and the M5s had factory 3.23s  even with the 3.4, which I had up to the speed limiter....that bastard

welp, until you find something to back that up, your belief will stay just that. But, then again, that's not really the subject of this thread...now is it?

Exactly... I felt like a boat going down the interstate. One bad spot in the road or one jerk of the wheel and I would have been toast. You could feel the rearend floating and swinging with every little bump. The best I've done since then is around 90. Hell, doing over 100 was probably 3 years ago.

Just want to add (besides the really great points above) that speed ratings on the tires need to exceed whatever speed your planning on doing. Its one of the primary reasons cars will have a governor. GM doesn't want to be sued by your family when a tire blows out going 125.

I think that's only a major concern if you plan on cruising high speed for any duration (over 10 min.)
