ok im just saying even with 3.08s, im pretty sure ud run out of gear doing like 160 in an A4....i COULD believe 180(and thats pushing it) but 212....that means that like theoretically the new Z06 or a viper could go like 350?
I pinned the speedo in my 98 firebird an watched the tach just move up slowly in overdrive from 4.5k to 5k when i let off the accelrater. I was running a 3.08 and an open diff at the time. I assume i was going between 130 an 135 but it took a minute to get up there.
When i first bought the car i read about the speed limiter but my car doesn't seem to have it. I have done a few 125mph runs with friends to show of this phenomenon. All we can guess is previous owner had it tuned for the full exhaust, and intake only.

your car came with full exauhst, intake, and a tune? nice...
Yeah it is nice, it had a flowmaster exhaust system but i replaced it with a magnaflow. The pacesetter headers are pretty rusted though. I bought it at a local dealership, it also came with full suspension and STB. The car seems to be a freak but i haven't found time to get to the strip because last year i blew the rear axle preventing me. Maybe this year i can get out there.

yea.. sounds like it... get out there and get some 1/4 mile times with it
I hit 135ish in my car...(search for my posts, I have posted the details don't remember them anymore, might have been 140)
-2k 3.8L
-T-tops off
-cutout open on a factory system
-tune was stock except for the speed limiter removed(YES, I know that is not stock, since the speed limiter was removed, I don't want to get into a 12 page argument about this like I had to last time)
Car I think was hanging around 4k rpms in 5th was restricted by wind resistance
mods on car that really wouldn't affect it much
-z28 sways
-275s on zr1s
-auburn lsd
-I think I had my bilsteins in the car, either that or they were dead factory shocks.

How fast can a stock V6 f-body can actually get in real life? I don't know. But, what I do know is that, in each case, it will never go above the aforementioned speeds.
90mph is the fastest i've had the bird :) not much into goin fast anymore. I do break speed limit all the time though. Well known for runnin right under 70 (68, 69) in a 55 all the time. Don't typically get pulled over around here til u hit that 70 mark.
I just read through this thread because I was curious myself about top speed. I was doing about 110 -120 and I let off when I heard I had another gear left : 0 .. I don't know how fast that thing will do but I can tell you the speedometer isn't going to tell you!!
