Not really. It's just that people put the coolant in the wrong way and air gets in it. Normal temp is around 210-220* which is hot anyway, but the V6 works great at this temp. This is when the fan kicks in. I installed a pigtail where the fan kicks in at 190*. The previous owner installed a manual fan switch, but it doesn't work right now.
One major issue is that the rpm for the V6 when doing cold start remains high. It will scout around between 2300-1500rpm. You have to let it warm up for 3 min. and have it settle at 1500rpm. Once you put it to "D" the engine will literally kick you in the back. But according to other Fiero owners that's normal.
I would recommend to Seafoam it a couple of times too. It helps a lot with the fluctuating rpm when you're at a stop light. I also recommend of getting a high amp alternator, because once the fan kicks in the engine has a tendency of stalling.
