Wonder if I am eligible...(dexcool lawsuit settlement)
Pull your belt and run the car. See if the ticking went away. If it did, spray a little WD40 and some grease on your pulleys(in the back) and put the belt on and make sure its on straight.
Re: Wonder if I am eligible...(dexcool lawsuit settlement)
I have never flushed my cooling system until I had to do my lifter and the ports in my heads and intake were clean no gunk or anything and the motor has 79k on it.
Re: Wonder if I am eligible...(dexcool lawsuit settlement)
The service light went off. But she ticks between 1500 and 1800 rpms now. Before when i was starting her up, she would do it immediatly upon cold start up and during the usual 1300 rpm idle. This time nothing til i reved it. What does this mean... I'm lost. I'll have my brother the mechanic listen to it an see what he thinks. I'll get back an report soon.
Re: Wonder if I am eligible...(dexcool lawsuit settlement)
Its not going to affect all cars. The dexcool failures are somewhat sporadic. I have seen people with nothing but sludge at 30k and never touched their cooling systems, some when longer with no issues. But this problem NEVER happened before with old stuff.
But I mean if 2% of GM cars that might be possible to have this problem have it. Doesn't sound like much. But if they sold 5 million v6 cars(S-10s, Blazers, full sizes trucks with v6s, and every FWD car gm made pretty much came with a v6 except the Cavalier) from 96-2003, that woudl be ~100,000 cars that had this problem. That is a pretty big number.
Also supposed to use distilled water not tap water when you fill back up.
For reference my car was a 2000 5-speed Camaro. I raced it hard and put alot more strain then most on the car.
But the last 20k after I killed the tranny. I babied the car and retired its "racing career" and just drove it daily, Never had any "major" mods on it, few spirited runs here and there but basically kept it as a daily driver and I am pretty meticulous about keeping a car running at 100% More so then most.
But then this happened. Sucked I had planned the car to last me at least to 120k before I had to put money into it again other then normal wear/tear(well other then AC)
after that fiasco I said **** 4th gens, and vowed never to own another one :) So I bought a decent DD with a good warranty and if I want to play, I will do it with a 2nd car. I had alot of fun with my 5.0 that way, and technically the Camaro ran a faster 1/4 mile then my 5.0 ever did.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
