Finally bought a Vette!

Bought a beautiful Lemans Blue 04' C5 Commemorative Edition. (I was telling you guys about it a while back). The guy wanted to unload it since only one other person was looking at it and it was in his possession for for over a month. Everything is extremely clean includig the carfax and got a short term warranty. Got a great deal on it and paid for it today. I took it for a ride yesterday and dayuuummmm. This thing picks up like it's got a turbo attached. I had it in a sideways slide until I let off the gas for fear of trashing it. I guess the performance 3.15 gears help a lot. I've driven other C5's and they didn't feel like this one. Last week I even drove a brand new 08' with 436hp and although that's like an 80hp difference, it felt similar to the LS1. (I only floored it on the freeway though, not from a stop). The 08' only had 2.56's which I thought was disappointing for a $53,000 car. The Goodyear tires suck though. I don't see how you can even put this thing on a dragstrip and get good ET's without slicks or DR's. I definately want to get it dynoed though. Well, it was a long time coming, but finally... Thanks. That was the "performance axle" option. The C5's come with 2.73's and another ratio.

I can't believe vettes only came with 2.73s or 3.15s? My M6 Camaro has 3.42s? I guess they want the vette to have better topend. Overall, I'm disappointed with the low end of the LS1, but i'm not dumping the clutch...yet :)

Here's a cell phone pic. And btw, believe it or not, this was a "hard"purchase for me. I've actually become accustomed to disliking Vettes due to some of the pompous people that own them and the priviledges these people get at car shows and cruise nights. (They let them in, but turn their head to the Camaro). I will always be a Camaro person at heart, no doubt about it. Also, I didn't trade the convertible. I "could" keep it theoretically. Only thing is, I'm running out of room for these cars and I already have that one stored in a friend's garage. I'll have to see how things pan out. If I decide, I can always try and sell it at a car show.
