Just last week, Vice President Cheney was asked about the burden of the Iraq War on our military.

His answer? George Bush bears the greatest burden of the war.

4,000 American troops who gave their lives? The Vice President summed it up: "They volunteered."

Marine Corps 3-star General Gregory Newbold, the former Operations Director at the Pentagon, said about the war in Iraq:

"The commitment of our forces to this fight was done with a casualness and swagger that are the special province of those who have never had to execute these missions - or bury the results."

Cheney is a snake plain and simple. Doing the kind of work I do I have met so many overpaid elitist piles of crap. After 8 years in a failed administration he will return to private life where he will likely have even more money and power thrown his way because of the fact that he spent 8 years as VP.
For some reason it doesn't seem to matter these days whether you can actually produce results, whether it's a company or a country you can acquire massive financial wealth and personal power without producing actual results other than helping yourself. I could go on for hours on this subject. It's in government and the corporate world and it's just ridiculous.
I sincerely hope there is some sort of afterlife justice for these lower forms of life.

Soldiers did volunteer unlike Vietnam.

If we pull out now then it will be like Somalia and black hawk down story. If you pull every one out and dont accomplish the mission then the soldiers that died did die in vein and that is unacceptable.

And people complaining about the money, they hire people to come in and bend the figures around. The war is costing how ever much. Well guess what, now there not spending money on training. Carriers still are gonna go out to sea no matter what so no extra cost there. Planes are still gonna fly but instead of 3 sets of 16 for 2 hours they go up pairs for 4 hours at a time. So thats less jet fuel. Only thing that is actually costing more no matter how you slice it is ammunition.

I'm not neccesarrilly for war but its the situation were in and now we have to finish it. And by we I mean the soldiers, so thank you to the ones serving, past, present, and future.

Do I think we needed this war? No. But, we've started and lost many men, so we can't back down now. What are we supposed to tell the families of those men then? That they died so we could pull out? We shouldn't have stared this IMO, but we have and now we must finish it. I do feel the government is dragging their feet about it though; it could have been finished years ago. I was watching the Daily Show the other day, and he showed how if we view the war in reverse, everything Bush has said makes sense; 5yrs ago he said the war was done and we had accomplished our mission; 4yrs he said the end was nearing and it shouldn't be much longer; 3yrs ago he said the war was just beginning and there would be more fighting ahead. It's been 5yrs now and still no real idea as to when our troops will be home :(

I don't disagree with you, but there is a bigger issue than soldiers dying in vain. We cannot leave a power vacuum. I applaud the US for staying the course and not bailing out like other, including the US, has done in the past.

I think that is an unfair assessment. This is an unconventional war with an unconventional enemy. I don't think anyone is dragging their feet, this mission is just much harder than we thought.

Some may think the war is retarded, but the Kurds with chemical burns and dead families may disagree.

I will say this- we are sorta dragging our feet in the sense that we're having to find these guys by knocking on doors and asking if we may come in. The old days it was just- drop bombs here, here, here, and here. IMO- much more effective.

We're taking out guys who have no problem shooting infants in the back of their heads and then putting them in mass graves. Also, these people do horrible things to women, probably the worst one being they burn off the nerve endings on a woman's clittoris so she gets no pleasure from sex and is strictly a breeding machine.

It becomes a matter of do we want to keep losing our guys like we are while saving their women and children, or do we want to save our own guys and risk the safety of innocent people? Either way we lose.
