    ok here's the deal.... i work at a GM dealership. and i have a 3.4 bird
    260xxx on it.... so when i read about the 3.4/3400 swap... i decided to do it... so i asked my buddy to look out for soon to be disposed but rebuildable items for the swap, so he agreed.

    now this morning, he called my attention. he said he cant find me a 3400 but instead, he found me a 3.8 block that came out off a 97 camaro... so got me to thinking why not... got nothing to lose...

    im not that of a mechanical savvy kind of guy so will a 3.8 will just drop in a 3.4's place? headers have to be changed? what stuff can i still use on a 3.8 from a 3.4?

    finally is it worth doing it?

    All the wiring, probably new transmission, or atleast bellhousing, computer, motor mounts, motor, about the only thing I think might be compatible would be the cooling system and brake system :P

      I thought you worked at KFC ?

      It's possible to do the swap, but it's not like your swapping a 3.4 for a 3.4, anytime you change motors it's alot of work.

      Personally, I dont think it's worth it...

      It's still a v6, & its going to be pricey to do just to have a 3.8

      Save your money for a new car or a V8 swap

        i do work at KFC at nights... GM is my day job... and KFC is my "kill time" job because ive got nothing to do at night because im still waiting for my univ approval... do you think its not worth it? i already have the engine... :( should i just throw it away.... besides my car DOES run in top Condition for its age... i just want to play on something... so when that day comes.... the 3.8 will be all ready to be dropped in... its nowhere near stock... you know what i mean... :naughty:

        besides this engine is the kind of engine that i will SLOWLY build...

          Look at the track record for other V6'ers trying to do swaps, not that im saying its not possible but UDLOSE98 Had alot of problems doing his build, and best swap of all made famous by OiBird, put like 11-12thousand into a LT1 swap and still cant get it running right.

                i did my lt1 on swap for way less , mine runs fine . cost about 4500 . slp headers , kn intake , daul exaust , 6 swpeed trans .
