you have to changed the plugs from under the car. replace the optispark while your at it. I recommend the MSD but if you dont have the $500 for it a summit one is only $250. But with this low mileage you could get away with not changing it. But if you REALLY want to change it summit has cap and rotor sets for $115. Now with the opti BS out of the way just the normal plugs and wire. Which have to changed from under the car unless your really flexible. If you do 02 sensors get AC Delco. LT1's don't like Bosch. Change the oil, coolant, ect. I see he said it might have a bad head gasket, whats the oil look like?

Oh your going to love it! It's the distributor. Which is positioned behind the crank pulley and under the water pump. They are notorious for going out at the worst time.

so i have to take the crank pulley and water pump off to change it? wtf? and what is it called and opitspark if it a distrbutor? and why does a v6 come distribuless but the v8 doesnt?

Yeah thats it. But I dont like draining coolant. It's an optical trigger hence optispark. IDK why the LT1 has a distributor. There's kits to make them DIS. But it being under the water pump lead them to collect moisture and **** on you. At least its a 95 and its vented.

how offten do they need to be changed. does it work like a reg distrbutor. and does that mean the timing is no controled but the computer? and do u no the 0-60 time on this car? sorry for all the questions

Re: well i turned to the dark side

Just whenever they go out. It works like a regular distributor and the computer controls the timing. But it's good to have a new one. GM thought because its optical it would be better... hahaah not. A good running LT1 usually will go 0-60 within 5 seconds if you get traction.

Yeah, lots of white smoke that smells sweet. You'll have oil in the coolant and vice versa.

Re: well i turned to the dark side

its called optispark because of the optical sensor used in it. other than that its pretty much the same thing but driven by the cam pin. its a pain in the *** to fight with, not so much because of pulling the water pump but pulling the goddamned AIR pump bracket and finding room to screw with it.

plugs can be done from the top with the right tools and small hands we got 6 of mine from the top but the front 1 on each head had to be done from the bottom. its alot easier after you have a nice set of headers. the damn heat shields are most of the problem on the stock manifolds.

once its running good you'll love it.

check out cfmperformance.net, we're getting a pretty good lt1 crowd that can help you out as well.
