Re: Why do you mod a V6?!

I bought my car with the mindset of lets do something diffrent than what everybody else is doing. I also recently joined a local Fbody club and guess what? iam the only V6 in the club.:) everyone else has either an LT1 or LS1 and hey thats fine but how many people do you know thats doing a 3400 or 3800?. Not many?

If I even decide to swap in a V8 I want a Donovan V8 for go.

At least the V8 talk has stopped. Someone needs to sell me their supercharger now. :)

              Lots of good reasons!

I wonder if our V6 cars handle a bit better than a V8 F-body, with the center of gravity so far back?
I do not know if a 3800 is lighter than a small block of any alloy or vintage; anyone know?

the weight is comparable b/t a 3800 and a LS1...the reason the 3800 is set far back in the engine bay is to give it similar handling qualities as a LS1-equipped car

That and because of the aluminum parts the LS1 has and the 3.8l doesn't have.

My reason when I had a V6 was because it was what I had.... Now I have my WS6 and I'm going to mod it too.. after I buy a beater though..LOL

Actually it was set so far back so they could use the same drive shaft lengths and exhaust I pipe length. The difference in steering ratio and suspension keep the V6's out of the V8 handling realm without modifications.

I was talking in terms of weight distribution, since the L36 weighs as much as the LS1

Ive always heard that the 3800 handled better because their was a difference in weight distribution...our engines are farther back, and even though the LS1's are roughly the same weight they are not as far back so it distributes differently?...or maybe this just applied to the 3800 vs the LT1 and Im confused?....

                            ^that's the problem...LT1's outweigh L36's
