It really doesn't matter if you have a V6 or a V8. Racing is racing, if you beat someone with a V6 and they had a V8. You win, thats it. Your not really proving anything to anyone. Making a V6 fast. Yes that takes a hell of aot of dedication and work. I don't see any V6's in the 10's though. Last time I checked 11's isn't fast. No not everyone can make a V8 fast. Again, fast is 10's, not 11's. It takes even more knowledge to make a V8 fast. With a V6 you're really not dealing whit crap for trying to put power to the wheels. So suspension isn't really a worry. In V8 cars, or any car pushing over 600 RWHP, you must have your head in the game on knowing how to set up a suspension.
Interesting comment:
This is my "little V6" Why would it take more knowledge to make a V8 fast? I have crossed many of this communities "firsts". The V8's crossed the same kind of firsts a decade ago. I'm not trying to ring my bell here but you have to admit it takes far more expeirence and dedication to make a V6 fast....

i just don't get why people have to be so serious about the whole v6/v8 thing. I mean sure its fun to mess aroud with your buddies about how they're v8 can do this and your v6 can. But lets face it. Theres always someone that can embarass you two times as bad. And whos to say that well only 10 seconds is fast and 11 is slow. To some people 13 seconds might be fast. I mean think about the first time you rode in a high 13 second car. I know i thought wow this is fast. Then i rode in a 11 second car and yea 13 seems slower now but in reality its still fast. I understand that there will always be rivalry between mustangs and camaro and camaro v6 cars and v8 cars. I mean thats what makes it fun right. but i just hate people who get all serious about this stuff. I personally think that the way racing and hot rodding has become less popular over the years, more then ever should us car guys help each other out and expand the sport. I mean the v8 guys shouldn't be telling their buddies "well if you get a v6 blah blah blah" I thats al they can afford or want let them do it. Everybodies has to start somewhere. The car hobby is so expensive anymore its amazing to me that its still alive.

You and Andrew have the SICKESSTTT!!! V6 rwhp around!! That's good enough for a high to mid 9 sec.
I don't even know why I got into a V6. I already started with a V6 with my 2.8 '89 Firebird back when my dad bought it for my bro and I in 1989. I was going to buy a 1989 PAS 5.7 Trans Am Covertible. Very unique TA because it's a covertible. But when I saw the new look for the 98 Firebird in late 1997 I immediately fell in love. I quickly went down to the local Pontiac dealer and bought a brand new Firebird. I loved it. Mind you, I could have bought a 1998 TA, but I liked the style of the black Firebird better, plus the front end of the TA didn't appeal to me.
Performance bug soon bit me because I was kicking a lot of imports and mustangs around. I was planning on paying off the bird and then trading it in for a new Formula. In 1998 with less than 5000 miles I crashed it because I was street racing a 300zx (I won). The damage was over 5000 dollars. I nearly cried when I saw the damage. It made me remember why I bought the car in the first place.
After it was repaired I fell in love with it all over again. The first thing I did was take my bird to Vector Performance and have them install a Powerdyne SC and Borla exhaust. Other mods started coming as well. And HELL NO!!! I don't street race anymore. The car is mostly for show now.
Wouldn't you know it, 2 years ago, I bought another V6...Fiero GT. I plan on dropping a GTP engine on it someday. I really don't care if I have a V8 or not anymore. You know Sheryl Crow's music..."It's not wanting what you want, it's wanting what you got...so soak up the sun."
I traded my CBR 929 for my 97 Camaro, and traded my M4 for a Donor 01. Both v6. Famiy and friends say I should pop a v8 in, I have baby momma drama.. I cant afford the insurance... Though the Vin would say it would be a v6.. lol Oh yeah I cant afford $4000 for a LS1... I am happy I just have my dream car (Camaro) I can care less if its a V6 or a V8.. Though I wouldnt mind having a true SS in this perfect non political world where the gas is cheap and high insurance rates was a thing in the past..
