I get tired of hearing people ask this so I sat down and thought about it. I have the time. :) They ask why I don't just sell it and get a Z28. Well here are my reasons why. Add your own to the list:
1) IT'S PAID FOR! Why not have a little fun with it? What is there to lose?
2) It's a fun car. Once you learn all of the nuances of it, it's still a PITA to work on but you can learn how to tell what's wrong with it by the sound.
3) Why get a new one? You'll just have to learn how to work on it the same way you did this one. And it'll have so much new electronics on it compared to the Camaro you'll have to get a degree from MIT just to change the oil!
4) Insurance is cheap. I compared the Z28 to the V6 and when I stopped laughing, I went with the V6.
5) I bought the car new. I know what's been done to it. I know the maintenance has always been kept up on it. I would have no way of knowing what some redneck did to a used Z28 if I bought it.
6) It's not really that expensive to mod. Most of the mods are about what I used to spend on beer over the course of a weekend. Heh
7) It's a darn reliable car! I've had mine since 2001 and it has 125k on it and it has NEVER left me stranded. I barely made it to AutoZone to replace the battery once but other than that, I have never had to have it towed and I have never walked. Ever.
8) It's relaxing to me. Everyone has to have a hobby. I just like making it sound better, getting more gas mileage out of it, more HP, etc
