  • Advertising on your car....

So i've always thought about getting some extra cash for school by selling space on my car. Perhaps a website would be interested in buying space on the back window/hatch to put a website address or whatnot and I could charge them like 100 dolalrs a month or so. Has anyone ever done this or know anyone who has done so?

Maybe its just wishful thinking and I know its not easy to get an advertisement or find someone willing to pay that much. But I would really try to advertise that My car sits in front of a grocery store (right backed up to the road) for estimated 32 hours a week (lots of traffic and people shopping) and then my car spends about 20 hours a week on campus of a major university. The bonus would be the fact I live in a major city in KY, I have family all over the state and would be driving to visit family all the time.

Selling cerial, advertising on your car, and possibly your screen name on ebay. I guess so!

        1. you just bought a second car, cant be in too bad of shape...
        2. If the grocery store isnt paying the bills, why is that something you want to continue doing in the future?
3.Parking, back to the just buying 2 cars.. now you have to pay for more parking

Not everybody is financially responsible ;)

Some people live within their means, others live far beyond their means.

            You don't understand

            1. I bought this car because my firebird has 140k miles and the car i bought was at an auction... it has 120k. You never know when something will fail.

            2. I have put in 5 years and I am going into management, but I have to get my degree first or try and get co-op... which can only happen my last year of school... so another year before then.

            3. I have to pay to park on campus... its not for 2 cars, just for a pass. Books and parking pass total about 400 dollars each semester.

Plus throw in my car insurance, cell phone bill, internet, cable, electric bill, rent, (now we have to pay sewer and water after our new lease).

Look, I have enough money to live, but why not take advantage of getting paid for driving to work or school. I'm realistic and know that my firebird isn't a show car or race car. Its a commuter just like the Crown vic. Once I'm done with school and get into management, then I'll think about spending money on something like a TA (where I wouldn't be advertising on)

                Try freegashelp.com

There are places that pay you to advertise on your car, but there are requirements about how much youhave to drive each month or something like that usually. Give it a shot. Good luck.

Yeah, thanks! I figured with living on campus, I might get something. I know there is a guy that parks next to me on campus that drives a Sprite F250. They actually gave him the truck to drive for a year and pay for the gas. He only has to pay for the insurance. That would be nice!!!! My luck, they would give me the Tampax Beetle

with advertising, esp. on your car, be sure to read the fine print on anything they have you sign...most companies would have stipulations like you would "need to drive x amount of miles/hours per day" or "you would need to attend special events for the company" etc etc...
Basically, I highly doubt it's going to be one of those things where you just put a banner on your back window, and you get a check...it'll probably require a significant time committment, and that may be time better well spent studying or working at your other job

yes of course... most of the stipulations from my research... you must drive so many miles (thus the reason they ask about your daily mileage when signing up) and some places ask you to take photos atleast 3 a month of your car with the logo/banner on it. Such as at work, school, sporting event, etc...

It looks like they won't choose someone like me unless they look at the fact I'm on campus and work at a grocery store, so maybe a beer chain or book chain like e-campus. I don't know, we'll see though.

You said that you got a second car because your firebird has 140k miles on it. Using either car for advertising will only put more unnecessary miles on them, and add to gas expenses. Somehow I don't think a little sticker or website at the top of your back window will cover additional maintenance and gas bills. You'd need a bigger, gaudy ad for that. Probably something like that Coke car a couple posts above. There are better options out there. Just keep looking.

I understand you completely. Advertisers (if i'm lucky) will send me offers so that I can agree or disagree to use. Therefore, I can make sure I'm not losing. If I don't have to add extra miles, then the money I make will make up for the car gaining miles. I don't know... this is all a thought/idea I've been looking into. Thanks for your comments to keep me ground level. I will let you all know whatsup if anything happens.
