Re: Gas is now over $4 in my area

$3.52 for regular.... people ask me why didn't I buy one of the fullsize trucks I was looking at....

    More gas
    More insurance
    More cost

Calculated out the difference since 99% of my driving is just me by myself. I could spend $120 a month renting a truck, and still be saving more money then if I got a truck over the G6...

and be slower/handle worse/hold less people.

Plus thats wha friends with trucks are for... though 1 of them is selling her truck to get something more fuel efficient. (she will be driving like 400 miles a week)

Yeah thats what people ask me since I am pretty big.

Trucks are great but not for year round driving. Ill be looking into a Dodge Ram when this whole gas crisis thing takes full effect cause they will be dirt cheap then.

I got significantly lower mileage running 93 or 89 in the 3.4
I'm trying to find my old notebook where I calculated it. I think I put in a tank of regular, accelerated at a moderate pace, and drove the same route everyday for that tank until the "check gauges" light came on. I did the same thing with mid-grade and it took longer for the "check gauges" light to pop up. Keep in mind though I have a 3.8 and the engine is going to respond a little more differently than a 3.4 would.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much different MPG is in 3.8 vs. 3.4

I know my old 3.4 pulled 30 mpg with the AC on (it was all highway).

A good way to calculate gas mileage is to fill the tank completely and reset the trip meter. Then drive XX miles and fill the tank up completely again. Then you divide the # of miles traveled by the amount of gas it took to fill up completely the second time.
